great video and helpful tips.............question.......what types of painting do you think the Princeton Elite series are best for?............ie do you feel that they are best for detail work........and what do you think is the feel as opposed to say Princeton Velvetouch or Black Velvet Silver brushes........ie are they softer, stiffer, hold a lot of water, etc.........thanks for any advise...............also, do you think that they last longer than say the natural/synthetic blends of brushes?

Thank you for the encouragement I am retired now and finally have time to try painting everyday it's hard because I also decorate bottles and refurbish things that people give me to fix for them or pretty up. But my main desire is to paint I would love to sometime soon I hope paint as well as you but I don't think I have the talent you do. Oh well it doesn't matter I really enjoy your videos and to know that you are self taught that is amazing thank you for all your beautiful work.

by this painting my doubt is clear now.. doing opaque technique in watercolor is absolutely fine... actually a drawing teacher said me after seeing my realistic painting which i had done with watercolor... this process is wrong watercolor are not meant to doing opaque but thanks to you... now i m free to do my own technique in my paintings... as a artist i think artist should be free for creating art by any technique with any colors..

Well, at least I’m happy that I’ve done a lot of pages with the colors I have and how they look when I mixed them, all the time comes around, so after this it’s just the practise every day, I’m working on that cause there are some anxiety when it comes to make art or about everything. I know it sounds weired cause I MUST CREATE PERFECTION EVERY SINGLE TIME, though I understand it isn’t possible. Does my brain understand, I wish, but I have a New mantra when it comes to my art. I must NOT show EVERYTHING, it’s okey not to. But I think I must write this in a book so I can go book and read when I struggle to start paint. I think this Will help me, I got some help from a pro in psychology, a support, I also got my wise husband and daughters that encourage me. I Hope this doesn’t sound to cocky, when I saw Your progress, I realized ”I mabye can be a good painter, like her (thinking of You) and then I can do masterpieces too, There is a chance, IF can can deal with that anxiety AND start practising

    • Ann-Marie Löfberg
      Ann-Marie Löfberg 2 days ago

Maria Raczynska well, that was a good idea, put it away for a month. I tend to overwork it, and don’t have the patience to let each layer dry. But I think of work on two paintings then I can go on painting. Still it can dry in between.

    • Maria Raczynska
      Maria Raczynska 2 days ago

Hi Anne-Marie ☺️🌹you totally can, it's all in practice ☺️👩🏻‍🎨Sometimes I feel the same way but it's impossible to create masterpieces each time lol we can't put that pressure in our heads, whatever is "imperfection" to me at a moment, I put away, don't look for a month and then decide if I want to share or not, most of the time, those become favorites on TVclip and Patreon while to me still don't,.. go figure lol

Happy to know this, Maria. While I have always been an artist, I got away from it, and began writing. But now, after 35 years of being away from art, I've been picking up my sketch book, and then working on watercolors. You're right. I've worked on it, on and off, for last two years. Right now I'm trying to get something done everyday. I am learning like you. Good to know I'm not alone. Can't wait to see what you do next! Woohoo!

Thanks Maria for the great recap - so many of those past paintings I recognize, going back to 2016. A bit like down memory lane. You had told me sometime time ago, "watercolor painting is not that hard, you just have to practice". I repeat that to myself many times over. And you answered in this video a question I was going to ask you - how important is it to learn to sketch and draw. I figured I knew the answer, you confirmed it. With my work schedule and lack of time to paint, I have found I can sneak in 15-30 minutes of sketch time on a lunch break or time before my work day starts almost daily. That has given me confidence, and know it will help the day I can paint more. Sketching with a sketchbook and a few pencils is so easy to bring with you anywhere. I will close on saying I am looking at a painting I did thanks to your tutorial, and field of lavender. One of only a few I have done, but I know someday, thanks to your encouragement, I will be a really good painter - I just know it haha. Have a good weekend.

Thank you so much Diane. Yes, literally every day. There were days I did 3-4 paintings a day! there were days I even did 5 in a day!! More like 5X7, 9X10 sizes. I was so determined to get better. Once I got better and started getting busier with responding to messages and comments, plus all the editing of videos I had to cut down to 2 a day. Today I try to focus only on one painting a day..☺️🤗🌸

At first, I thought, there is no way I can paint like Maria. Your demos were very detailed & in depth & while I loved watching them, I felt they were so professional & so far beyond where I was. Now, I have actually painted along with you on some of your videos, especially the short summer series. I can’t tell you how exciting it was to paint something that actually resembled something you painted! I agree with you, the best way to get better is to do it every day. I thought I was the only one to notice significant improvements in your new paintings. And assumed it would have been rude to say so 😅 You have talked about the importance of having good papers and watercolours but what about the brushes? Is it not as important as good grade papers and watercolour? Will cheap brushes do just as much as expensive ones?

    • Maria Raczynska
      Maria Raczynska 2 days ago

Brushes are also important 🤗🌹To me it goes like this #1 is watercolor paper (always), #2 in line are watercolors then #3 are brushes. You can go by with cheaper watercolor brushes for a while and still learn then when you can, invest in good quality brushes. I just always believed paper is #1, then paints.I look at it this way because a lot of students often tell me they can't afford good art supplies, so I always say what's most important to start with.

ESPECTACULAR!!!!!! Maria.

I love love your painting. Even though I'm a newbie to water color painting I jumped head first into the deep end of the pool and tried to paint your stunning Galaxy painting. Lmfao. I gave it my all, i really did. .5 times! and lots of scrap paper, used many tubes of paint, spilled a few jars of dirty water, once on my dog! Got paint on my bed spread, desk and my face trying to make stars with a toothbrush. I named my paintings "Uh-oh," "Hmmmm," "No, it's not supposed to look like that." And "It sucks even on LSD. Lol. I'm in the shallow end of the pool and sketching, watching tutorials, practicing and having fun.
