I get to telework 2 days a week, which saves 5-6 dollars on gas each time; so every telework day I make an extra $5 payment on my car note principal. This has shaved about two thirds off of my final car payment two years from now. May be small, but it is helping, and I don’t miss the $5 at all. So I should probably start upping my extra payment to $8 or $10 🍀

Great video, if people need to delegate it can be a good thing as the other person might benefit from taking on different tasks but one has to make sure that the other person(s) who are given the tasks are not overloaded themselves and that they are able to maintain a good and healthy balance with a good amount of time for them too.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I truly had no idea there was a definition to what I've been feeling, and this is without a doubt it. Just last week I was at the doctor for a CBC and to check my thyroid and iron because I was convinced there had to be an explanation. I work a full time job that I don't love, but it has been what allowed me to try to grow where my passion truly is. That full time job however has been the culprit of my burnout. Sharing your experience is brave, beautiful and relatable. So again, thank you!

So 👏true👏 Since I started my minimalism journey, just a few months ago, I’ve become a lot more content and focused on what I DO have. People around me are constantly talking about what they « need » and « don’t have » but I’ve noticed I really have like everything I need. Thanks for pointing that out for me!!

I just started decluttering my home and it feels great to not have to look for 20 minutes for something to wear that fits and matches with other things and looks good and makes me feel good, and all the paper piles are gone that were literally all over the house from junk mail and just stuff we didn't know what to do with, and it is becoming a more relaxing place to be at home and I can actually calm down and meditate and do yoga like I've wanted to for a couple years now, and it's just an amazing and freeing difference.

    enjoyed the music

  • FrightfulAccountant

Earpods, Smartphones and Spotify and Bluetooth kinda killed much of the magic of music. Who is still nostalgic to the old days of hanging out with friends, playing cassettes on the big hifi set in the garage, all in an atmosphere of cigarettes and cheap wine? People not only gave up smoking and drinking, they gave up music and fun things that came along with music. Everybody is doing music now allone, on a smartphone, spotify and earpods, while reading a blog of hearting some instagram photos... Music should not be compromised by minimalism, music should be the devotion of life! It is sad how little we care about our music these days.

The size of your apartment is a normal size for an apartment in Britain. Is it considered small around the rest of the world? They are cheap to heat and quick to tidy so it makes sense to live in a small house, especially if you are a minimalist.

    • Meghan Livingstone
      Meghan Livingstone 3 days ago

Hey there! I think smaller spaces are more common in a lot of places in Europe, etc. An average sized home in Canada and the US is around 2,000 sq. ft. which is much bigger in comparison to our studio! But I think small spaces are great. In the future when we get a bigger place, I'd still want it to be relatively small.

  • Blue Lilac

I'm new to the channel and just subscribed! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I practice this in my life and it has always been a lifestyle for me. Yet, I'm a creator and a multi-media public relations representative too. I got into this field so that I could work as a photographer and social media manager for animal rescue organizations. Yet, everyone else in my field lives such non-stop and hustling lives filled with politics and media (just not me). Witnessing they're go go go behavior makes me nervous half of the time! LOL! I guess my point is, this is a great reminder and exactly what I need right now. Thank you for sharing!

Good of you to hit the breaks before it got too bad. When I was 24 I hit the wall properly, also from only doing things I was passionate about and were genuinly making me happy. But still, they left me without enough of rest/sleep or time to wind down. After 3 especially crazy intense years I was on an exchange semester abroad (last year of university) that I had looked foward to and worked hard to pull through. And instead of enjoying myselfn all I was doing was weeping every day and sleeping 14-16 hours a day. Not because of anything happening there, but from pure exhaustion. Finally I realized I wouldn't get better anytime soon and went back home, not just back to my student apartment but home, home, to my parents. Stayed there for months and kept crying and sleeping like the dead until a friend of my mother told them I was probably burnt out and should go se a doctor. Sure enough, it was a classic case. I got anti depressants and later also therapy. Stayed home like a zombie for an entire year before slowly going back to uni to finish my master thesis and getting my degree. This year I turned 40. And belive it, I am still feeling it to a certain degree. Since then I have been sensitive to stress and really have to be guarding my boundaries, make sure I get enough rest, etc. Proper burnout can actually inflict similar damage to the brain as a brain injury for example inflicted from head trauma (e.g from a car crash or similar) and equally difficult to recover from or to some degree stay permanent. So it's good of you to react before things got too serious. And take this lesser burnout seroiusly to make sure it doesnt happen again, to avoid what happened to me. I also applaud you for spreading the truth that burnout is a real risk ESPECIALLY when you work on your passions. That is I think when you are especailly prone to blur boundaries and never get proper rest. Get rest and recovery and make sure to do completely other things now and then. Take care of yourself, both you Meghan, and also any of your followers perhaps reading this ❤
