  • Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is a $1980 folding phone, but you should think of it as a tablet. In the very first real hands-on video, Dieter Bohn explains what this Android device is all about.

What do you want to know for the review? - Dieter

Funny how everyone complained when Apple took away the headphone jack, made an iphone that had a notch, and had an iphone that costs a grand, but nobody complains when Samsung ends up doing the same with this phone.

For the review, I'd like to know how a foldable phone holds up in everyday usage. How often are you really pulling it out and unfolding it? How long until the novelty wears off and you find the folding behaviour slows you down?

@Karsten Von Fjellheim You are crazy for asking. This is ultra thin amoled screen and gaming will cause overheat and artifacts in no time.

although this is an expensive phone its fun to see this kind of tech finally making it into the consumer market and being seen as normal is the next step im quite exited to see this develop more.

Hey you know how you can grab a piece of carton board and just bend it over and over and how it'll break pretty quickly? Do you also know that even strong materials will break pretty quickly if you keep bending it back and forth? Now imagine a phone where the gimmick is that it bends! So *in theory* you have a regular size phone which you bend open to have a pretty big screen! .. yep no, in *reality* it'll just break really really quickly. There is no foldable phone that will even last a fraction of time of your current smartphone. Buy this if you have money to spare and don't mind replacing the phone in a few weeks. Yes, it's that bad. F*ck it's physics, if you cause friction and bend something all the time it'll break pretty quickly. Who ever thought foldable phones was a good idea?

Wonder how much longer till they have 48 and 60 month leases on these things... they will never make a new $300 phone that is affordable because nobody would buy the expensive ones since they do the same thing.

Interesting idea but it's not practical yet. We need quite a few years until the form factor gets slim and handy enough for everyday use. But we have to start somewhere. Think about where regular cell phones started and how far we've come.

The review is great but background sound was a bit distracting. Found myself at times tuning you out and trying to figured out what the conversation in the back was about. As for the phone I think most people agree we should wait until future generations.

The amount of skeptical opinions on the comment section showed that people have no idea how revolutionizing this is. Sure this is look rather prototype-y, but its far more post-production that was expected from it. this is the future of smartphones/tablets/laptops/smartwatch, maybe even more.

That hard slap does not look good for the longterm life of the screen. Those magnets are too powerful and slamming the screen at that speed seems risky.
