Rare doo wop - You and I - The Originals

  • Published on Jun 28, 2008
  • Original "brown wax" promotional copy. It appears to be black wax until you hold it up to a light which you will see 30 seconds into this video. Soulful doo wop with a heavy bassline, clean snare and a brass horn section.. It doesn't get much better than this!

    Tu. E. io
    Caro, sai come mi sento
Caro, sai che il mio amore è reale!!
Non devi preoccuparti, Mi importa di te, sempre..
Senza di te vicino a me, non posso confrontare la vita..
Tu ed io, dovevamo essere, innamorati
    whoo oooh whooo
Innamorato, whoo ooh whoo, innamorato, whoo ooh whoo

I have an idea for a movie..A young black woman lost her fiancée in a tragedy. Dressed nicely for an evening stroll with a fur coat. She hears echoes of this song. "You and I..were meant to be". Suddenly there is an image of her fiancée beckoning her to come near. He is so handsome. When they finally touch, they are in another world. Both are dressed to be married. A bouquet, he makes appear. And they are off to the milky way galaxy forever.💕💕💙💚💛💜💕💕!

That wood glue cleaning thing you see on you tube will take out a lot of the krackel of the dirt in the groves. It doesn't help the fidelity loss from a lot of playing e.i. radio or juke box.

The first time I heard this was in 1963 at a girl's house (back then, girls had records like these, incredible as it sounds). Luckily the record store in my neighborhood had it. What a winner - everything meshes perfectly, terrific falsetto lead bridge with solid backup. Their other release At Times Like This is also good. I believe this one is rarer.

Daniel, thanks for the comment. I must add that violence and hatred certainly existed, which is why the civil rights movement and racial (and gender) equality were necessary. But I agree that certain things were simpler - and more limited, like communication. But yes, I agree the social fabric has been torn badly, if not ripped to shreds. Rodney King said it best: "Can't we all get along?" I'm sure that, up in heaven, he's still waiting for a positive answer. (Meanwhile, we DO have the music!)

  • Daniel Held
    Daniel Held 5 years ago

You are correct about the world of the 1950's not being Ozzie-and-Harriet land or Happy Days for many of us but ... it was a much simpler time w/o cellphones, cruel violence and hatred, computer access for the common person. My family was poor, hated no one other than the mice & roaches that sometimes overwhelmed us in our uptown Harlem apartment on Amsterdam Avenue, spoke to neighbors, respected authority figures or else, worked and saved money to have daily meals, shopped for bargains ...

Virgin vinyl simply means that the vinyl has never been used before. Lots of records were made from melted down records. The problem with that is in the pressing process the labels become stuck to the records, so tiny bits of paper often ended up in recycled vinyl. Vinyl by nature is clear. The black color comes from dye. Many virgin vinyl records of the 80's were pressed on extremely thin vinyl, which is why they were slightly translucent. This record is much thicker

  • tankerman135
    tankerman135 7 years ago

sort an early version of what they call virgin vynil-have windam hill albums from the 80's that look light gray when you hold them up to a light-virgin vynil is pressed longer-1 of the police's albums is also virgin vynil-ghost in the machine??-can't remember-alot of dj copys were virgin vynil-better sound quality..
