instead of constantly decluttering why not just buy things with intent?

I realized that i have so much stuff. I donated 10 garage bags and still have alot of stuff that i need to go through 😭
I'm lucky that i started doing this last year because i think i realized i was almost about to become a horder like my grandma.
    For me that's not healthy.
Plus I'm finally moving out of my parents place and moving with my boyfriend up north to Washington with his stuff. So i have a year to get ride of alot of things. I honestly feel great getting ride of stuff.
I remember filling up two garbage bags full of clothing and things for the victims of the fire in paradise city last year.

Great video! Just beware of what Warren Buffet calls sucking your thumb syndrome or what other people call the stickability factor. If there is something that you can do right now don't put it on a list, do it right now. You can create what scientists call cognitive overload. Benjamin Franklin said "don't put off till tomorrow which you can do today." I would always make these lists of things I could have just gotten done at that moment then would look at the list wondering what to do... Okay, off to declutter! Thanks for the video, cheers!

I think the only declutter I'm good at is clothes. I live in a place where seasons aren't a thing like you need I thicker coat to get through "winter" so every 6 months I try stuff on, evaluate what I look like, get rid of things that dont fit or look funky, and mainly end up keeping basics like basic tees and Jean's a few shorts and a couple dresses. I can lift my whole wardrobe with two hands 👌 plus going through every 6 months let's me see the style in really enjoy and replace things that dont suit me with clothes that actually make me happy.
I'm so bad with sentimental items. Not clothes but like, physical things like cards stuffed animals trinkets books. This week that's what I've started tackling. I've learned it's time for me to be brutal with it. I'm now 22, these things used to make me happy when I was young but now I cling to it from guilt and nothing more.
Also I wanted to say to anyone just starting out, it will be hard, you will slip up and get messy from time to time. That's ok. Just get yourself back up, and start again. It takes time to form a habit and change how you keep your space. Just keep going and dont give up! You can do it! Just be patient! ❤

why do people say "if you haven worn something in six months, throw it out"? I don't wear winter things in summer.
I don't even wear things from one year to the next, but fashion (and my size) is always changing.. so some things I pack away for later. and later does come! by the time I fit back into something. its back in fashion!
... OK, my version of it ; )

Since I dedicated, I could say, my life to my job I didn't put to much attention to my house and this video gave me an approach to tackle it.

Here's a tip: if you have a lot to accomplish or just have a smattering of things to deal with, it's been helpful for me in the past to use post-its on a blank paper and switch things out or remove what's been done. That way you don't have to deal with a shit ton of lists. I fell out of this habit, and I've got tons of paper to go through again now. Time to take my own advice!

This is a great tip! Ty I have waaaaay t0o many lists! I'm researching how to properly organize my studies.. subjects.. goals and etc.. ♡ I may have to try this on some of my topics to organize. OneNote. Cozi and a Meal Planner have helped me alot.. I use Meal Planner app for pricing and what to expect $ wise when shopping around . Cozi I use for a calendar but mostly for recipes..What's great about it is that you can save recipes by the URL. Which is suuupperrr easy. OneNote is jst the best study journal I've found and use it for all my categories.

a "to do" list is good but your accomplishment list is also important to this type of process. If you can take a picture of your closet "before" and "after" that is also helpful to show your progress.

Great video! I usually begin with my desk because I'm low key obsessed with keeping it clutter-free, even though I usually resort to sitting on the floor to do my work. I, too, also have way too many clothes and I don't even wear 99% of it. I've already donated a huge bag about 8kgs worth to charity. I still have more to go through, because I recently moved and just shoved everything together, but I'm in between places so it's the perfect time to completely finish the process. My clutter all put together in one room doesn't even take up half the room anymore, with walking space now, whereas before it took up two and a half rooms.
I'm glad you started with decluttering as the first step. There's no point in pretty mood boards straight up because they will only add more clutter to the space and be more of a deterrent. It feels amazing decluttering. :)
