  • Confirmation Bias is part of human nature. We all are susceptible to it. But why is it such a universal human condition? And what can we do to move beyond it?

It must be a privilege to be able to create an entire brand around a monkey and not have it bring to mind racist thoughts about the person behind it because no negative connotations have been linked between monkeys and your background.

So you just made a statement as fact.....climate change being questioned by Ted Cruz.....isn't your brain biased in your belief. You said that climate change is a fact.....I would agree that the climate changes, but that is part of the BIG lie. Those on the left are not saying it is "changing". They are saying.....climate change is Caused by mankind and specifically those of us in the USA! When you point out that we have had huge shifts when man wasn't around the left scream that we don't understand....perhaps it is the left that is engaged in confirmation bias?

A bias is not necessarily thinking in a way that leads one to be wrong. One can have a bias about something and still can be right. A better way to put a bias is that it let you think in a way that leads to believe things that are not rationally justified

I don't understand why his bias exposing his "elephant" is detrimental to the video. It reinforces the concept. In fact that points out your own confirmation bias. Excellent video. See how easy you dislike something if it causes cognitive dissonance.

That crazy bitch is exactly correct. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has varied greatly throughout time and the primary sources (geologic activity, the ocean, biology) all have an inconceivably larger impact on global CO2 content. We have added a percent or two over the past 100 years which has proven beneficial to biology in the past, as has warming of greater levels than we are currently experiencing. That's called evidence

It’s true the author used many political examples. However, if you already know the confirmation bias, you have already acquired the ability to make valid judgements.

Fact: Bias, in and of itself is neither good or bad. What makes it good or bad is whether the thing they are biased toward is good or bad.
Fact: When people have a wrong understanding of "bias", they will be biased in a wrong way.
Fact: Everyone is biased. What matters is whether a person is biased, in a good or bad way.
