Yeah, why a lot of interviewers ask that question "Your advice to your younger self?" The guy is old already. The "younger self" is already in the past. What's the use of giving a piece of advice to your younger self? Ridiculous. Better ask about his advice to young filmmakers of today.

The 4 dislikes must be from the other directors that got snubbed for an Oscar last year.

This interviewer is so annoying, can't he just listen, does he have to impose himself when master is speaking.

Really wish the moderator wouldn't try so hard to be a know it all. Just listen, let the man speak, that's what he's here to do. Otherwise very insightful talk.

He had no idea about having to make a speech. Barely skips a beat and delivers an insightful personal description of the art of screenwriting. What a legend.

Around minute 42:00, he mentions a movie Dead Man Escapes by Breslin. I can't find it anywhere other than perhaps a Stallone movie. Can anybody enlighten me further please?

Los mexicanos que se quejan de Trump por racista, seran los mismos que critican a Yalitza? Donde estara la logica de sus mentes.
Parece que el racismo solo se ve cuando tu eres la victima y no cuando eres el victimario?

I never understood why Tarantino is praised so much. He is ok. I actually find most of his movies to lack maturity.

roger8654.....I feel like plucking my hairs off while watching a tarantino film... I still can't figure out why people consider him great.. As alphonso said and the basic idea of cinema is... that you should not feel the same way while hearing a film and seeing a film... In tarantino films the screenplay is brilliant.. The dialogues are great... But I don't think it has a visual language..

1:16:32 For every original and truly creative, aspiring or established screenwriter/director who wants to really understand what the term Cinema actually is. I haven’t ever found is more beautifully and more simply articulated than this. Kudos to the lady who asked the question. We’re blessed to witness this.

To this explanation Cuarón gives, I would add what David Lynch said (also at BAFTA) about people not getting it: "The film is the thing. You work so hard, after the ideas come, to get this thing built. For all the elements to feel correct, the whole to feel correct, in this beautiful language called Cinema. And the second it's finished, people want you to change it back into words. And it's very, very saddening. It's torture. It's the _film:_ the language of Cinema."
