Google Home Hub hands-on

  • Google has announced its Google Assistant-powered Home Hub. We spent some time with it, and it’s much smaller than you would expect from the 7-inch display size. It looks like nothing more than a tiny floating tablet on a cloth-covered stand. That display has something called Ambient EQ, which automatically adjusts to the light in the room to look more natural.

THey should add a camera, but make it a rotating one. So when you are not using it, you can flip it around in case it gets hacked

So it's just a tablet, that only brings all smart home features into 1 interface. They could have put that into an app, and release it in the store.

I don't get it. It's like having a tablet, running Google Home/Assistant, with a screensaver.

    Am I missing something?

    • stan_sprinkle

I got one for free, which is probably why I like it, but it's a pretty fun device to have on my kitchen counter next to our dining table. In the kitchen, you can tell it to set multiple timers. It's good at recipes... you can ask it for a recipe, tell it to show you the ingredient list, tell it to show you the next step in the instructions, all without touching the screen if your hands are messy. It's also pretty cool just as a photo frame. I'd say it's a cool one to have if you can get it for less than $100. I wouldn't pay full price for it, though.
