I often love to look at the comments to see who everyone is hating on the most, and then contemplate why they dislike that person so much. Sometimes it's valid, the person is quite irritating or rude, but other times it's pure judgement. In either case, I don't think it's okay to say half of the things you people feel bold enough to say, but to each their own I guess.
It's interesting that in a video about image, with people giving their own unfiltered, most humane thoughts and opinions about image, you guys feel the need to break them down or judge them for their honesty. Not everyone is going to be able to form the perfect sentence or say the right things all the time or even be coherent all the time. That's okay, we're all human. It's confusing. Give people grace.
As for comparing the runway models and Instagram models... they're from completely different worlds you know, from different parts of a spectrum of image promoters. I just think that instead of trying to diminish one group and say that the other is more valid, we should view them as they are, in their separate roles, and appreciate that. They're bringing different experiences to the table, and I personally enjoyed hearing about all of them.

Alizée, Gary and Chantella are so well-spoken! I loved the way they were very respectful of the others. The two other "instagram models" got on my nerves but that's just my personal opinion

Sorry not to put anyone down but the runway models understand professionalism and have respect and passion for what they do and you can see that. Omg the male runway model is actually gorgeous for one and for two, you can see the difference in elegance they have. Insta models are there for the social media users while actual runway models are there for the masses... idk just my opinion

I guess this video shows the standard it takes to become a professional model. It takes someone with extensive attributes (such as self awareness, open mindedness, respect, composure, durability etc.) Whereas, just about anyone can become an instagram model. I guess this is why one side is more elegant while the other is just not.
I dont even mean to sound disrespectful but there ya go.

I wasn't very fond of the way Miriam spoke to the runway models. She came across as judgmental and prickly when they joined the conversation, when talking about photoshop she made it seem like they weren't allowed to have an opinion on it because they don't agree with it and get photoshoped even though they don't have a choice when it comes to editing. Too critical in my eyes

Runway models have to perform live like walking in runway, or doing good in a photo shoot for a brand that only gives them few chances to perfect a shot. There is little room for mistake for them. Instagram models could always retake their photos if it doesn't look good, but they have to be careful because their job also relies on what is trending on the internet, and the comments from anonymous people could easily break their spirit.

You can see a huge difference in the way they carry themselves and articulate their thoughts. Instagram models only need to LOOK the part for a MOMENT in a photo or short clip. The runway models have to BE the part ALL THE TIME, not just with how they look, but in the way they present themselves. You can't redo, put a filter on or Photoshop your runway walk.

exactly, many professional workers are being mocked for working hard doing the things they love. unlike those laying around faking their physical appearance just to be accepted by digital numbers, comments and overly excessive compliments that rise their cocky virtual ego

Why does Mariam care who gets cosmetic surgery? If your insecure about something, and want to change it, who is she to tell people they are wrong. Sometimes people are so insecure about certain parts of their body, and if they want to change it that’s okay.

    • Eternity Telecome
      Eternity Telecome 16 hours ago

because she's a hypocrite if you said this to her face she'd tell you "Yeah I agree with you" just to win your favor. She's insecure about people disliking her for anything to the point that her opinion has no ground and contradicts itself. sometimes she'll nitpick your words that fits her agenda and immediately argues with you just like she did to the tall professional black runway model.

Anyone can be an Instagram model but not a runway model

  • Dana

The general public will never admit it, but I think a lot of people are very envious of instagram models for monetizing likes and popularity. Everyone was asked if they worry about how their image affects people, and none of the runway models really talked about how the modelling industry only promotes thinner body types. Unhealthy and healthy thinner body types today, but still just thinner body types. It would've been nice to hear one of them acknowledge their part in that ideal image that's constantly being sold to us, but instead they kind of bragged about fitting that ideal image. "Winning the genetic lottery" as one of the models described it. Disturbing thing is, there was a time when she wouldn't have been considered as a winner of the genetic lottery simply because of her skin color and ethnicity. It's an impossible standard and it's intentionally impossible in the beauty industry. We'll never achieved it, so we buy everything to make us appear closer to it. It's honestly sick but genius.
That impossible standard is also why they're losing jobs and doors are being opened for regular people(instagram models). People don't just want to see 6ft tall, skinny women/men anymore. All around I think the beauty industry is toxic, but I will say that you can at the very least get variety with instagram models. Different races, sizes, body types, hair types, features and heights.

I guess promoting self-hate is and hypocrisy okay?
"I don't support surgeries but I personally got one" - influencer
have we asked ourselves "WHY is this narrative accepted?"
      1. dislikes her pre-surgery look
      2. Is personally okay with cosmetic surgeries
      3. sees society has some agenda against cosmetic surgeries
      4. dislikes her post-surgery look
      5. becomes an insecure hypocrite

      1. dislikes her pre-photoshopped look
      2. is not too happy about using photoshop
      3. sees society in support of overly-touched look
      4. wishes to meet the highly edited standards she set for her own self
      5. becomes an insecure sad hypocrite
I only give respect to Chantelle for being respectful and stood by what she preached but that doesn't mean she's Jesus. the rest represent the majority of Instagram models.
      where is the acceptance?

People covering up their nose job by saying “I broke my nose” makes me cringe so much. You can break your nose and the surgeon will be able to make it the exact same way. He will fix it. But doing a nose job is something totally different. He will take off, move and change it actual shape.
You can fix a nose without change it it shape. 🤦🏻‍♀️

7:38-7:43 Did anyone else notice the Runway Models' reaction when the 2 Instagram models walked up...what did they notice? The runway models are my favorite, I used to think they were shallow but they showed me different. They are so confident in who they are and it shows. They present who they are without any filters, surgery...all them, and with the filtered faces filling social media, they are a breath of fresh air. Self- love is loving who you are even if you don't fit the image of a model, knowing you are enough being you...much love.
