Bottom line--if St. Louis hadn't botched up the expansion in 1994 allowing the Jaguars to be awarded to Jacksonville it would still be an NFL city to this day. The ridiculous top tier clause in the stadium lease that the city included to lure the Rams to town turned out to be the loophole that doomed them.
Wait, you're saying WE'RE to blame for the Rams leaving? We loved them just as much as we did the Cardinals and Blues!!! We are THEIR HOME, just like Los Angeles is. You remember the last expansion slot we could have gotten? That went to Cleveland. I don't need to say why we were right not to try that. Although I do think it ultimately worked out for both sides. You don't mean to question our loyalty, do you? Also, wasn't the clause you're talking about the one that said the stadium had to be among the best or something like that?
Well said. Georgia Frontiere didn't want to pony up the dough for a new stadium in LA. She won out in the end.
The funny thing is that Los Angeles hasn't really desired an NFL team back, and the League itself used LA as a sort of extortion by the billionaire owners to the cities to build them a new facility or they will move there. Remember St. Loion has been burned twice by the NFL and now have a stadium with no tenant at all which a poor city like St. Louis will have to maintain or demolish.......Which brings up another point, no government should build a billionaire a stadium or arena and be stuck with it when the team moves on. That's bullshit. Sports franchises are just not worth the effort, especially NFL stadiums. At least NBA arenas can be used for lots of other events.....Lastly, why does LA really need two franchises, when there was no desire for one for over twenty years, and why poach San Diego's team? Isn't San Diego a fairly wealthy city? This is why I am not a big fan of pro sports, a bunch of rich fucks playing us like fools. Not right.
Facts these days i really only watch baseball basketball is also another sport filled with greed
Will you still watch the rams
Of course, but I don't really watch a whole lot of NFL.
I'm a 49ers fan I'm real sad I never got to see a game at the Lou.
