There was a hood up in a parking lot so I went over to see if the ol guy needed help. A WOODCHUCK! Yeah it was dead, a little burnt, smelled bad. I didn't know if I should comfort him or laugh at the situation or offer to help. He said he'd just driven a half hour with it in there. Belt squealed at first. Slammed the hood and took off. Grit, grime, woodchucks. Just leave it I guess.

If you have a crappy car like that who would want to clean the engine. If you have a nice car WASH your engine, otherwise you look like a slob. Vehicle's ten years or newer are safe to wash. Just don't use high power sprays.

Thanks Scotty. I wince watching video detailers tell me to spray down the engine. I once spent thousands replacing a wiring harness that was ruined due to an oil leak, so any liquid under the hood scares me.

Like Scotty said an I agree with him modern engine's aren't supposed to be cleaned with water!!!. There are a lot of electronic components and sensors in the engine compartment. Some cars have the ECM inside the engine compartment. The ECM is supposed to be completely sealed but why take a risk like that? I always clean my car engine with engine foam and pressured air nothing else and I haven't had any problems and the engine is all clean.
