Sitting here watching you make sweets (British for candy) I can see the small children watching through the window. It reminds me of when I used to stand looking through the window of the 'Rock Shop', a similar enterprise making seaside rock, sweets and other sugary treats in the the Seaside town I grew up in. Thank you for the memories.

You make this look so easy. Meaning no disrespect, have you ever invested all that time, energy, and sugar into a batch that was a major fail? Can that even be corrected? My major fail is home made fudge. In almost seven decades of cooking, I cannot make decent fudge.

Hand made candy. Some batches want to cut cleaner than others. Some candy makers are better at cutting than others.

    • Lofty Pursuits

It is hand made candy. Perhaps some time. There is only one good one that has been made, there are two that I know of surviving, and I don't have access to either.

Hey guys! I love your work! Once I save a bit i'll be sure to order some (a lot) of your candy!
I never had much of an interest in hard candy, but your videos made me look at them in a new way. The care and craftsmanship you put into making your candy is mesmerizing. And how about how colorfull and joyfull your designs are? It really shines through that you guys put your hearth and soul in making them in the way you speak and the way you treat your work. Someday I'd love to visit Tallahassee and meet you on site! But untill that day indulge me by answering this question: Do you have a favorite candy to make and what is it? and Also (in case they are not the same): Do you have a favorite candy to eat?

    • 80TheMadLord08

Because some people are assholes, I'll explain it as best I can.
When they rolled out the long ropes of yellow and then wrapped the red sugar around it. They then stack them on top of each other in a sort of triangle pattern, so for example: five ropes on the bottom, and then four on the next layer, then three, then two and finally one more on top of that. then when they placed the green ones on the bottom of the stack they did (the bottom being the five red ropes) it created the stalk of the strawberry.
Now whilst it might not look like anything other than a bunch of sugar ropes stacked on each other. the inside is where the magic happens. When it the whole lot gets stretched out into a thin bit size rope, it actually forms a strawberry pattern. if you were to take that big stack of red ropes before it was rolled into the large yellow log, and cut it down the middle. You would essential have a giant rough strawberry picture.
Hope that makes a bit more sense :)

  • Henley Phoenix

What you're saying would be clearer if the music wasn't so loud (it drowns you out) and was an instrumental instead of a song with lyrics (the song is pretty busy/distracting with the instruments used in the melody too). Alternatively you could fade the music out as you speak and then bring it back in when you're not speaking. 😊
