What the HELL is Private Snafu? (A Propaganda Cartoon Secret)

  • Published on May 18, 2018
  • Private Snafu is a WWII cartoon series that was specifically made to train American soldiers and was not available to the public. It is absolutely wild and one of the most unique cartoon series ever made

Dehuminization duri.g war was done as relentlessly due to the fact that it is easier to kill an enemy you see as less than human.
This is also why guns are used, part of it anyway, as if you can make out clear features the guilt and reuplsion wont be as strong.
Yes, dehumization is horrible. But during that era it was psychologically beneficial to soldiers.
Just so you know, not jsutifying racism, just explaining why the propaganda cartoons were so racist. Outside of just the times.
Think about it, would it be easier to kill a buck-toothed, hideous, and mentally retarded (using it medically, not an insult) American hater that bombed Pearl Harbor.
Or would it be easier to shoot a pychologically complex individual, with people they love, wives and children, and are struggling through the horrors of war just like you are.
Again, just explaining the why. Not justifying it, as it was awful. Just psychological can be used to make soldiers more willing to kill, and reduces the amount of trauma. That and compartmentilization.
Compartmenilization is pretty much cutting your emotions away when fighting. Allowing you to disrrgard your own emotions and ethics. And making it so your emotional self is less impacted by what you are doing.
It is hard to explain. But is kindof like a self-manifested split-personality, not exactly, but it is the closest comparision I can think of.
Also dont blame *only* Hitler for the treatment of the Jews, he gave the order but Hienrich Himmler was more to blame for concentration camps and Nazi Ugenics due to his founding of Ahnenerbhe (German for Heritage), which was just the Nazi Euginics program that found (psuedo)scientific reasons for Aryan superiority.
I dont see people like Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich (Head of Military and the Gestapo, who even Hitler called "The Man with an Iron Heart" for being cold) mentioned often, even in many history books, despite also being high up in the Reich and the Gestapo, and being among the main arcitects of the Halocaust.
Hitler was still f***ed up though. Not denying that. Not at all.

As fascinating as these cartoons are, there’s something oddly unsettling about them as well. As in, this was shown to men to whom a good number of which may not live to see their families again, fighting for their country that, for its time at least, is uncertain about victory and are taught to kill or be killed.

Private Snafu is awesomeness in animated form, that's what the hell Private Snafu is. If you love World War II propaganda, or vintage animation, especially from Warner Brothers, you owe it to yourself to buy this disc release.
You can buy these cartoons remastered on DVD or Blu-ray from Thunderbean Animation, online with a search, or on Amazon. I believe all of them have also been uploaded to TVclip, albeit with watermarks or in varying degrees of quality. You can't go wrong with the TA release. They have a lot of vintage and obscure cartoons on disc for the home consumer.
    Great video! :-)

Concerning the video on Disney remakes and the retarded comment a lot of idiot adults think that cartoons are for CHILDREN, I want to add: People used cartoons to draw and simulate PORN and EROTICA long before it became associated with being "just for kids."
Private SNAFU is a GREAT example. So is the Wolf from Red Hot Riding Hood.
