The best French chefs taught him how to cook but he prefers to cook crap. Do not understand. I could never eat so unhealthy food. I imagine it is just anglo saxon food and hard to change habits even when they are bad

Ok, I used red onions, ground beef, garlic, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, Pilsen beer, potatoes, mussarela, parsley and spring onion (both chopped), but didn't make it into balls. Made a hole in a French loaf, made what we call in Brazil a buraco quente, "hot hole". Simply amazing!

    Can somebody help?
    1. What can be substitute for the oven? I ain't got one, what can I use for cooking in its stead?
    2. What is the thing he chops before chOpping the onion?
    3. What is the liquid he uses for bringing the gravy to a boil? Can one use water instead?

Your comment is already waaay too old for the answer to be relevant, but here it is for future reference:
      1. If you have the means, get a halogen oven or a toaster oven. They're "miniature ovens" that you can use in any small room, and there should be cheap options available; just look for one that's big enough for what you want to do. I can't think of any alternatives to an actual oven; you can get creative with a microwave for some stuff, but it just won't be the same and it will be finnicky.
      2. Fennel.
      3. Chicken stock. Look up a recipe or get bouillon cubes for a cheaper, unhealthier version. In the most literal way, you _can_ use water, but the end result will have a very dull taste, so I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Butchers tip. Use a cooked potato from the day before, crumble and add to the minced meat. even better then a raw one... 200grams of potato on 1kilogram of meat.

........Some balls are held for charity
    And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure
They're the balls that I like best
    My balls are always bouncing
To the left and to the right
It's my belief that my big balls
    Should be held every night.........

  • Cooking Is Amazing

Great recipe! Will definitely have to try and make this one!
