also 2017: "Let's celebrate PT Barnum for his contribution to entertainment by releasing this movie about him just being a misunderstood dreamer who wants to support his family."

Zendaya actually learned to trapeze; the director wanted her to do as many of her stunts as possible so she actually did most of them and used a stunt double as little as possible

I really find it funny but some of the information is not right. Zendaya did the stunts herself and even more important the man who slaps him isn't P.T.'s father but his wife's.
But despite that tge way you changed those song lyrics was hilarious😂
I still love the movie 🤷‍♀️

Can I just say something please? I am a huge fan of musicals but I never understood why everyone liked this movie so much. The music was okayish. It just felt like the same song and same scenes played over and over again. P.T. Barnum was a horrible person who exploited people for money. They also trashed poor Jenny Lind’s memory with depicting her as having an affair with Barnum. Sure, it was well acted, but let’s be honest. Why did you make a movie about this guy? Just my two cents.

  • Myles Hoglund
    Myles Hoglund 2 months ago

I wasn’t really looking for historical accuracy going in but after seeing it, maybe a musical that looked at the darker side of Barnum would’ve been better. At least better than a bland and generic follow your dreams musical.

  • Ian Moone

The fact that Disney made a movie about such a horrible person that DIDN’T make him the villain just says volumes of their current ownership. They will make anything into a movie. I bet you in a few decades, they’ll make a movie that’s about Hitler and it’s an upbeat musical.
History washes away with time; we’ve already got Holocaust deniers gaining traction, it’s only a matter of time.

My personal theory is that P.T. Barnum somehow leaped forward in time and wrote the screenplay himself to paint himself in the best possible light via catchy musical numbers and glossing over how horrible a person he was.

Why is this whole Trailer based on the "historical accuracy" and "racism" of how Barnum actually was? So most Americans in the 1800s weren't racist? Are you saying Americans back then weren't opportunists that would try to make a living however they can? It's not American to exploit anybody for capital gain?
