Retiree’s Victorian Tiny House, 19th Century Living w/ Modern Twist

  • Published on Apr 11, 2019
  • Historian and tiny house advocate, Shorty Robbins, built a Victorian-era cottage on wheels. It provides a window in the past, a darling living history example. Shorty’s now full-time tiny home, “Nawaka,” is an excellent tool for her favorite pastime, historical re-enactments. ✨ While it highlights 19th century Florida pioneer cabin life, it is full of cleverly tucked away modern conveniences, like A/C, a solar generator and a TV. The most ingenious (and historically accurate!) feature is Shorty’s piano bed!
Shorty is a founding member of the Golden Teacup Society, a group of woman reenactors who were interested in the accurate portrayal of civilian women during the 1860-1865 America Civil War period:

Hope you enjoy the tour of Shorty’s now full-time tiny home, “Nawaka”. While it highlights 19th century Florida pioneer cabin life, it's full of cleverly tucked away modern conveniences, like A/C, a solar generator and a TV. The most ingenious (and historically accurate!) feature is Shorty’s piano bed! Please like, comment & sub.🙏 New videos Tuesdays & Thursdays at 3:30pm EST.

@Duncan Abrams She probably has an old-fashioned "chamber pot," which you would use and then empty. Good question though.

She is adorable, just like her home. Reminds me of my first house. I owned a Victorian, built in 1888, complete with a huge turret & several antiques and paintings. We loved it but located on a busy road and just not a good mix with young kids so we moved. We really miss it. Truly a unique experience to have lived there.

You are amazing. Hiding all these modern conveniences under so many clever items. I love it. Pure genius. I just have to ask if you live in this home full time or just for showtime. I only inquire due to the way you have to cook and no shower. Lovely great way to live. Im jealous.

Soooo many thought out lil details and innovations! How long does it take you to setup and tear down all breakable and trinkets? What a great time for you and your granddaughter💕
Was wondering about (the always wondered about) restroom and shower, and fridge etc?! I suspect it is also cleverly hidden and would've loved to see the washing machine! Man what a great way to reuse grandparents dressers! So many wonderful treats for the heart and eyes. Was wondering if the person who made the housewarming lantern would be available to make me something like that too? The quilt, the potbelly stove, the pics of you and others awww man I love love it all way too much❣ May you be safe and have many wonderful trips!
