In this Chinese Street Food tour video, I take you around many places in Chengdu. First, I visited this local market near the outskirts of Chengdu, Sichuan, China, and found Chinese street food and the atmosphere to be mind blowing and exciting! It was truly an experience visiting this Chinese street market! So much food and Sichuan ingredients, so many flavours to try! Afterwards, I rode my bike around to many different locations.
    Please like:
I visited this morning market on a Sunday morning in Chengdu at 8am with an empty stomach and money to blow with the goal of tasting foods and chatting with as many locals as possible. This is a true China experience. It was so busy, with so many people, so many things to buy and look at, tons of vegetables, meat, live chickens, live hens, live roosters, everything you could want really. Fresh handmade noodles, fresh Sichuan cold "liangbancai", and a huge meat market deli area with hanging pork and beef to choose from. All of the locals were friendly and talkative, although a bit surprised to see a foreigner walking through the area!
If you're visiting China as a tourist, you'll definitely want to take a walk through a busy morning market like this. There are countless street foods to try and people to chat to (If you speak a little mandarin). This market was mind blowing!
Rather than trying hot pot in Chengdu or hot pot in Chongqing, you could try some way cooler food in Chengdu at local market like this. This should be a top priority in my opinion!
Chinese cuisine is so diverse, and I consider myself lucky to be able to live in Sichuan, eating Sichuan food everyday, tasting all the top Chinese foods to try whenever I want. I've decided to stay living in China for at least another 2 or 3 years to get the feel of it and eat as much as I can!
The addresses of the locations in the video are:
    The Intestine Noodles:
    The Tianshuimian and Huangliangfen:
    The Chinese Crepe:
    The Random Street Noodles:
    The Sweet Sticky Rice Ball:
    The Guokui:

I just bought some Sichuan Flavour Seasoning - a packet containing lots of different spices seeds and chilli peppers.
The first ingredient is listed as "hawthorn" - all the others are easily identified as flavourings but I cannot see any information about what it contributes. Any suggestions? Jeff

I have been following you on my TV where I cannot give a thumbs-up or a comment. So I signed on to comment that you have to be channeling me. I share your enthusiasm and delight when eating in China. I am still enjoying a Yu-shiang eggplant I had in Hanchow in 1988. The eggplant was perfect and the tomatoes, peppers and onions were a treat to the eye as well as the palate. I did not miss Western food at all for the duration of the trip. And, yes, the people were pleasant and very curious. "The show is Aliens and you are the television." Many had never seen a westerner in '88 and were eager to see a real, live da beez-uh and see how really big our noses really were. I just wish I could speak Chinese. I lived in Mexico for about three years so I am enjoying your Mexico vlogs. And the best carne asada tacos in the universe and surrounding territories were, and still may be, at the Mexico 1 tope in Mulege, BCS. I will think of you the next time I am waiting for thr ferry for Mayne Island at Tsawassin. Did my grad work in Canada, Montreal. You've great schools. Cheers, eh.

This is so much fun! Thank you for this. My husband is in Chengdu this weekend and he visited the panda sanctuary yesterday. Today he mentioned he was going to the famous monastery so I pulled up this video and told him he needed to stop at the noodle shop across the street. Thanks to you he is enjoying a delicious noodle bowl. He reports “this place is bonkers” with many photos. A great recommendation and the first of many, as we are moving to Shenzhen from San Diego next month. We will have an extra bedroom in our flat and will be happy to host you both on a food tour in the next few months! :)

The foods in Sichuan Chengdu are amazing because the ways that spicy has taken away the whole city. The food ranger is mainly doing the video related to street food and that is really amazing. In Chengdu, street foods are proper restaurants because you can find a lot of own small restaurants there and you can have a taste of the spicy oil wantons and the Chengdu breakfast buns, or the tofu staff. I have a suggestion for all of you is that in Chengdu you can find many many foods related to the night market. The food ranger is basically walking around the street to find some foods, and in the night market you can find actually there are many stalls there, and you can have a taste of the popular night street foods in Chengdu. That might be a unique experience related to street food because actually you can walk around and try different beverages of the fruit cakes and buns, barbacue. They can be not so spicy so I suggest you to look out for some night markets and to eat at some places that you can not actually seat, but the experience is pretty good. Moreover, a suggestion for a chengdu viewpoint called the kuanzhaixiangzi, the translation is the wide and narrow street. Inside there you can find a lot of small stalls for selling the traditional chengdu street foods and you can also enjoy the foods inside a proper large restaurant there with your friends. I have been their twice already, one time in the morning and one time at night. There is the best place not to eat, but also shop whatever you want to have the representation of Chengdu. Inside the three streets, you can buy a lot of traditional local snacks, and also buy souvenirs related to different viewpoints in Chengdu, for example the Pandas from the panda theme park, also something related to Dufu and the three kingdoms. That place would be interesting. If you want to know more about the Chinese Unesco 2A viewpoint for buying different staff, go to this link here.-This place would be the best place to go after you want to enjoy some cheap but classical hotpot, taste up the sweet and hot spicy chengdu foods and to buy snacks and souvenirs. I highly suggest you to visit the place on the last day of the trip, because you can buy a lot of souvenirs and snacks there, for foods you might choose other night markets in the place. Because in the whole chengdu, you can find uncountable places with the same foods because they are just so popular.
-----I suggest you a hotel nearby the kuaizhaixiangzi, you can stay there for your last night of travelling or just stay there during your whole travel. This international hotel provides free western breakfasts, inside with a Chinese restaurant and the best thing is this place is a nearby place to the Dufu cottage and the Sichuan museum. You can across the city highway to travel to dujiangyan to see the pandas and the water irrigation viewpoint in less than one hour.
The name for the hotel is ruichengmingren, the translation is celebrity, the link is here, this is a chain hotel company and you can choose the non-smoking room above the 20th level. need to choose the hotel in the correct district, luomashi(the rome city), so that is the one nearby the three destinations.
(This is not a suggestion for the food ranger because he has been to all this places I think already. For people new to Chengdu, I highly suggest you to go to the wide and narrow streets, dufu cottage, dujiangyan panda park and water irrigation viewpoint, sichuan museum. Of course if you are interested on cooking and learning how some sichuan foods are made, go to the sichuan food museum in Pi town)
