Quentin Tarantino’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.

Confession: When Tarantino talked about this film, saying "It's not Manson, it's 1969," I had a small bit of hope that he would be adapting the novel, Sway: mainly because it has storylines told out-of-order, just like his signature formula! But, this looks like it'll be entertaining as well.

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago +1

@Sunzu49. From what I've read it's not like Bad Times at all but QT does not follow historical accuracy in relation to the plot of this film at all. It's drastically different.

Yes, Tarantino, is a huge fan of Sergio Leon, but who isn’t? Did I see a glimpse of Bruce Lee? Lol I wonder if we’ll see a Pedo Polanski portrayed in this film? Scumbag

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

@HardcoreJesus100. That's not true. I know a lot about Polanski. I know he's a Holocaust survivor. I know his family died in the Holocaust. I've seen most of his movies, including his first feature, "A Knife in the Water," which was in Polish. I've also seen all of his short films, including the ones he did while he was in film school.

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

@HardcoreJesus100. I didn't know you read other comments. I too thought it was obviously him. However, that doesn't mean everyone does. I thought you figured it was him but we're looking for clarity. I was just trying to help out. If I knew you meant it rhetorically, I wouldn't have answered it.

    • HardcoreJesus100
      HardcoreJesus100 Day ago

Eli Kronen it’s easy to tell when a person googles something lol... 1978. You could have just said you didn’t know anything about Polanski lol

    • HardcoreJesus100
      HardcoreJesus100 Day ago

Eli Kronen tone? Lol Bruce Lee is obviously shown. You shouldn’t have to analyze tone to know when your answering a question or just pointing out the obvious. Also, it was already all over the comment section that he is portrayed in the film. I mean lol....ok dude?

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

@HardcoreJesus100. This film takes place in 1969. Polanski's criminal charges are from 1978. So if you were referring to that rather than Polanski in general, then the answer is no. The way I read your questions didn't come off to me as rhetorical but rather literal. Perhaps you intended them to be rhetorical but there's no way to read implied tone.

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen 2 days ago

@ASimoneau. You do know then. It's about an actor on the back nine and about him having a midlife crisis. Tate moves in next door to him. That's over 90% of the film. I agree that it's not clear how every character fits into the film. According to all the reviews Manson is in it for less than a minute.

    • ASimoneau
      ASimoneau 2 days ago

@Eli Kronen Not me. I know it's about an actor struggling on the back-nine of his career, and Bruce Lee, Charles Manson and Sharon Tate fit into it somehow. Beyond that, I haven't the first idea what the story's supposed to be.
I'm not even knocking it, really. When it comes out, I'll be there with bells on. I simply call BS on anyone who claims they can discern the film's premise just from watching the trailer.

Isn't he the black guy in movies...least of all..a Tarantino movie?

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

@Alexander Torro. QT didn't secure SLJ because SLJ had already been under contract with Marvel Studios. He was busy filming a movie for them as well as the new Shaft, which he was also under contract for. When an actor negotiates with a studio to be in a film, he/she does not negotiate with the director. Their agent negotiates with the studio. Also the actor is legally obligated to appear in films the actor is already under contract for.

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

@Alexander Torro. I brought up my legal experience, so you could understand that I have some professional knowledge about contracts. It matters but when I say it doesn't matter, what I'm saying is that even if I didn't, common sense should be enough for you to understand why Jackson was busy filming other projects during the filming of Once Upon a Time.

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen Day ago

    • Eli Kronen
      Eli Kronen 4 days ago

@Street Skolla. No doubt. I thought that was obvious. In real life Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth didn't exist. James Stacey, Wayne Maunder, Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee, and a fictional actor and his fictional stunt double certainly didn't kill all of the Manson Family minus Charles in real life.

    • Street Skolla

@Street Skolla. Bruce Lee was employed by Polanski to train him. They met through Jay Sebring, who was also being trained by Lee. Bruce Lee trained Tate for the film the Wrecking Crew. Lee training Sebring and Tate is shown in this film. I think calling Lee and Tate friends is a bit of a stretch though.

We are in 2019 and we still must wait 1 year to view a movie. If we consider first rumors of a new movie, first images taken on the set, and the official release we reach even 2 years. Add release date late in different countries caused by translation we get 2 and half years.....It's time to change, when a movie is released it is released worldwide. Customers should have the freedom to view it in a cinema, in his house (rent or buying dvd-bray), on his smartphone.....everywhere. All this wait is really boring.
