You forgot Judy Davis and River Phoenix --although, the hate was one sided because she was the problem.

I watched a documentary about him where the friends that were speaking about him said Judy Davis was horrible to River Phoenix on the set of the movie they were in together. The way the friend's described what happened, is that he could have told her off lots of times but he just wasn't that type of guy, but the way she treated him really troubled him.
They said she would snap at him and basically complain about pretty much everything he did, along with cutting the filming during scenes and complaining that he was whispering his lines and pretending that she couldn't hear him.
Even the movie's director said River was doing just fine, but Judy was horrible, and that he (the director) felt bad and wished that he would have stood up and stopped her behavior.

I am surprised that Viven Leigh and Clark Gable aren’t on this list. They were meant to hate one another in “Gone With the Wind”.

    • Elaine Snow
Elaine Snow 16 days ago +1

Not really. Vivien was the child of diplomats. She was really an aristocrat & very well mannered. It drove Gable nuts - he came from literally nothing. He would grumble “How can you be so happy & well mannered this early in the morning?” I don’t think they hated each other - just were ill matched, through no fault of their own. Remember Ms. Leigh was bipolar, and it’s a miracle she got through this really long movie. It got much worse as she got older. Poor lady.

I've never heard anything bad about Jennifer Aniston until now. It makes me wonder if it's Jay Mohr's fault they didn't get along, although of course there's no way of knowing. As for Humphrey Bogart - blech, he was lucky he got to star with Audrey Hepburn and he looked like he should've been her dad in the movie.

In defense of Jamie D and Dakota J, they had horrid material. The 50SG books/movies are so terribly and poorly written, it's not as if they had great (or, even barely adequate) material to work with. They were acting out an awfully written book by a woman who has no right to call herself an Author. 50SG is this decade's Showgirls-just a shit show all around. Charlie H is probably daily thanking his lucky stars to have avoided that mess.

Number 6: yes Reese is an Oscar winner and great actress, but to say Vince Vaughn is just Vince Vaughn is a poor remark. You said it yourself that Vince likes to ad lib his scenes. To be able to recreate scenes within the moment is more creative than someone who just sticks to script. Vince should have more credit than Reese.

A common thread with many of these "rom coms" is the boring, very straight women involved, as the script requries them to "fall in love" with "kooky", otherwise unsuitable guys. Rachael McAdams, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon - they are all bland as hell.

The conflicts always started with narcicistic people. They think they are better than anyone, so they think that everything must be done in their way, everyone else is less smart or stupid... Well, you get it. That's why too much "stars" in a movie is a bad precedent.
Anyway, now I see romantic movies as stupid, unbelievable pieces of fantasy, made to idealize relationships, unreal expectations that destroys naive people.
Worst BS ever: Titanic, The Notebook... I can't think on another right now, add some, I need to puke...
    Absolute torture to men.

George Chakiris, who played Bernardo, Maria’s protective older brother& Anita’s sweetheart, is primarily of Greek origin. He won an Oscar for his performance, as you probably know. And he WAS great. But a talented Latino could have done equally well - assuming they were hiring more than one talented Latino back then, per film.
