Hey man, love the videos. Was wondering though, those Russian figures from WWI (8:10 or so) From the sources I've come across, strictly military deaths that 1.5+ million ballpark figure works, but when you add the wounded to that as well, it jumps up to five or six million

fun fact: Most of the Russians became slaves during the rule of Peter The Great and millions died building the great city of Saint Petersburg. Where did the russian culture go? It died, the city was built by European architects using russian slaves and calling it Saint. I remember when russians flew imperial flags in 2012, i doubt anybody knew that their relatives were nothing more, but slaves.

He never mentioned the streltsy revolt of 1682 and 1698.Also Peter the great never actually took power in 1682.In 1689,he went back to russia and took power.

I don’t understand why the Allied Powers gave Russia back any land in 1918 if Britain, France, etc. were also so anti-communist.

So the modern Russian tri color flag is that old? I thought it was new, and only part of the Russian Federation. Well, derp. IM always used to the USSR flag and others, like those seen in Napoleon Total War being the flags of Russia.

As much as I love your channel I want to correct a few things in that video.
    1. Most Russian principalities were not a part of the Golden Horde. They did pay a tribute to it but were not a in Mongol Empire itself. Mongols never sieged or even entered Novgorod, Pskov and even Moscow. Although they do conquered Kiev. Map of the real borders of the Golden Horde can be easily found online.
    2. I should point out that Ivan IV is known as The Terrible only in Western sources because of the the incorrect translation probably deliberate one. His real nickname Grozniy in Russian translates as The Formidable.
    3. Between Peter The Great and Catherine The Great there was another monarch who's reign was accounted for a lot of essential reforms and military successes for the Russian Empire and who was unjustly neglected in this video. Thats another Russian Empress Elizabeth II.
Otherwise great and intresting video as always.

When they are coming to Peter the Great, Russia suddenly expands to the Pacific ocean, that is not correct, as it happened earlier before his reign, in 1640-s Russians already reach Amur river, today border with China.

One of my favourite back stories of The Romanov Dynasty was when Paul 1 claimed he saw future events. He left a letter to be opened a 100 years, which would be opened by Nicholas ll and Alexandria. Paul's basically called what happened throughout the 19th century and the fall of the Romanov's.

Russia had California under it's control until 1841 so I don't agree that Crimean war was the last step of it's glory. Furthermore, the defeat there was due to several mighty governments uniting under UK's control to defeat Russia. Russian defeat in Ruso-Japanese war was NOT humiliating due to excellent work of it's diplomats that forced Japanese to accept rather mild treaty.. Rather, it was Japanese society that rioted against the government when the treaty was signed cause they expected MUCH more. By the way, several hundreds of thousands prisoners died building St. Petersburg so it has the second local name "city built on bones"- some humanitarian they had there, lol, Ivan the Terrible killed much much less than that (and overall was kinder than other European rulers of his time). Finally, you didn't mention that time of troubles called that cause Poland tried to annex Russia while Sweden was attacking Russian north.
