Actually Britain does have a military parade every year - the Trooping of the Colour. Admittedly it is quite a Victorian affair with carriages and horses, and no missiles. A weird march of odd old-fashioned nationalism, but not a parade of military might.

TBF to the French, they bled a hell lot in WWI; their losses were second only to the Russians among the Allies. They (and the Brits too, mind you) lost the Battle of France due to tactical and command mistakes, while the Germans got lucky with their gamble through the Ardennes forest.

Isn't it kind of ironic to call being a Royal a "silly, pseudo job" when you earn your money by sitting on a sofa and insulting people? Nothing against the guy, just brings to mind a saying about stones and glass houses.

4:04 Oh you should Thump on about history I think I can list the number of times the British army has routed the french one on their own on one hand and still have three fingers to spare, Waterloo and Agincourt and that's it. Meanwhile France has stomped up and down Europe for three hundred years from the end of the hundred years war until the end of the Napoleonic one (In which Britain may have been on the winning side but which wasn't won by Britain), if the French surrender then the story of the British is that they run away calling it a tactical retreat. Their navy is impressive but the British army is far more of a joke than the french one.

Ironically... France put up one helluva fight. They had more men in the battle and had more arms and far better army than most other nations of the time.. but nothing beats a methed-out nazi war machine... it was only after 18 months of being completely kited out on the stuff the germans were getting worried about addiction and had to stop their own troops from taking it.

Manuel Panisse rounding up Jews for the Nazis is not irrelevant to the murdered Jews and their families . The United States rescued France both world wars .
The French took an hour to even get to Notre Dame fire and didn’t have any real fire suppression equipment available during the renovation.
We do enjoy the champagne and cheese however. The pastries are nice too.
