FISA like The Patriot Act do nothing to save American lives. Does the end justify the means? Taking our rights? Warrentless wiretapping? Suspended Habeas Corpus? Come on people open your fucking eyes.

According to a bombshell report from the Washington Post, the CIA concluded that Russia actively interfered in the election not just to destabilize our political system, but to actively elect Donald Trump.
This conclusion was not something they just pulled out of thin air. Intelligence agencies had arrived at their conclusion in September, and briefed a bipartisan group in the Senate and House about it then, along with President Obama. The President wanted to go forward with a full disclosure of the report, but Mitch McConnell quashed it, threatening to taint any disclosure with the claim that it was being made merely for political gain.
McConnell was willing to let the Russians meddle in the election because his guy was getting the benefit of their work. This is outrageous.
“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”
In other words, there was active interference on the part of Russia not simply to destabilize our politics, but to actively elect one candidate over another.
Concerned that a unilateral White House statement would appear as though the administration was tilting the election in favor of Democrats, the White House decided to convene a bipartisan panel of elected officials to review the material in the hopes of issuing a unified statement and warning states about possible compromises to their voting systems.
Instead, officials devised a plan to seek bipartisan support from top lawmakers and set up a secret meeting with the Gang of 12 - a group that includes House and Senate leaders, as well as the chairmen and ranking members of both chambers’ committees on intelligence and homeland security.
Look who they sent to that meeting:
Obama dispatched [Lisa] Monaco, FBI Director James B. Comey and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to make the pitch for a “show of solidarity and bipartisan unity” against Russian interference in the election, according to a senior administration official.
Specifically, the White House wanted congressional leaders to sign off on a bipartisan statement urging state and local officials to take federal help in protecting their voting-registration and balloting machines from Russian cyber-intrusions.
Yes, that's right. James Comey knew in September about the CIA's conclusions and was part of the team asked to make the pitch to elevate this issue to the American people on a bipartisan basis. In September. So, by the way, did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had a very specific response to the administration's appeal for bipartisanship.
The Democratic leaders in the room unanimously agreed on the need to take the threat seriously. Republicans, however, were divided, with at least two GOP lawmakers reluctant to accede to the White House requests.
According to several officials, McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.
Shall we take a moment to allow that to sink in? Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader, sworn to uphold and defend the United States Constitution, chose to threaten the White House with a smear if they disclosed this information to the American people.
What happened to defending against enemies, domestic and foreign, Senator McConnell? Is this treason?
What makes this really interesting is what we can see in the rear view mirror. The Trump campaign fought tooth and nail to end the Michigan recount, in a state where there is some evidence seals were broken on voting machines there.
We don't know if malware was installed on those machines. We do know many machines in Detroit malfunctioned on Election Day, however. But what we don't know is how that impacted the final counts in Michigan, mostly because they ended the recount.
Yes, we had reports of Russian hacks. We had daily dribbles from Wikileaks, clearly intended to drive a wedge between Bernie and Hillary supporters while painting Hillary Clinton as Satan in a pantsuit.
But there's more. There's always more. You may recall the day that Rep. Michael McCaul inadvertently slipped during an appearance on CNN and said the RNC was hacked by the Russians, too.
Of course, McCaul walked that back right away, claiming it was a misstatement, but now there's a problem. Apparently the RNC was hacked, but no information released. The only information released by hackers was from the DNC hack.
    The New York Times:
American intelligence agencies have concluded with “high confidence” that Russia acted covertly in the latter stages of the presidential campaign to harm Hillary Clinton’s chances and promote Donald J. Trump, according to senior administration officials.
They based that conclusion, in part, on another finding - which they say was also reached with high confidence - that the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee’s computer systems in addition to their attacks on Democratic organizations, but did not release whatever information they gleaned from the Republican networks.
If Rep. McCaul's original claim is to be believed, and there's no reason at this point not to believe it, then it seems pretty clear whom Russia was interested in electing, and it wasn't Hillary Clinton.
Now take those pieces of information and blend them up with this one: Donald Trump, Jr. had a little sit-down with the Russians in October about "Syrian solutions."
Is a pattern emerging here? This is before we consider what Paul Manafort's role in all of this might have been.
The Trump transition issued an incredibly lame statement after this news broke, which said, “These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. It’s now time to move on and ‘Make America Great Again,’ ”
    Rachel Maddow:
"Um, it was not one of the biggest electoral college victories in history. Also, you lost 3 million votes in the popular vote. But the fact that Saddam Hussein didn't have weapons of mass destruction and the intelligence agencies indicated otherwise is indelibly true," she said.
She continued, "The fact that U.S. intelligence agencies say that Russia intervened in our election to elect Donald Trump is an entirely separate matter and if you won't engage with that on the substance, then telling other people to move on while you ignore it isn't going to persuade anyone."
I have been saying for months that the hacks into the DNC computers and attempts to compromise state voter databases were the equivalent of a 21st century Watergate break-in. But now this has taken a deeper, darker, more sinister tone even than Watergate, where at least it was engineered by Americans.
Mitch McConnell, James Comey and others intentionally aided and abetted foreign aggression against American democracy.
What Comey did may be even worse, because he not only permitted foreign aggression to continue undisclosed, but also inserted himself and the FBI into the election in a different way but with the same goal: To tilt the result toward Donald Trump.
At what point do we call this treason? Where are the hearings? Where are the investigations? This needs to be done by a bipartisan commission and it needs to be done now, before that hotline in the White House turns into Putin's vehicle for pulling President Trump's puppet strings.
This is a hair-on-fire moment for all of us.

Three former Donald Trump campaign advisers, all of whom are widely believed to be targets of the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia, have publicly announced their willingness to appear before the House Intelligence Committee. The three men each made separate announcements volunteering to testify. But it’s not clear if the advisers are aligning against Donald Trump to save themselves, or if they may be aligning with Trump behind the scenes to try to derail the investigation.
Manafort, Page, and Stone have all specifically volunteered to testify before the House Intel Committee, which is chaired by increasingly flagrant Trump ally Devin Nunes, while none of them have indicated any willingness to cooperate with the more legitimate Trump-Russia investigation being carried out in parallel by the Senate Intel Committee. It’s possible the three advisers are all willing to legitimately testify against Trump, and they’re merely hoping for an easier go of it at the hands of Nunes. But in light of Nunes’ recent suspicious actions, it’s also possible the advisers are looking to appear before his committee so they can coordinate with him on a defense of the Trump campaign’s actions - or that they’re volunteering so they can create the public appearance of having nothing to hide, knowing Nunes will turn them down.
All three Trump campaign advisers have repeatedly changed their story, ultimately admitting to improper actions but then asserting that they weren’t illegal. Manafort has agreed to testify (source: Washington Post) after he was caught taking tens of millions of dollars from a Russian government intermediary. Stone and Page have agreed to testify (source: CNN) after Stone was caught communicating with the Russian government hacker who stole and released Democratic Party emails, and Page was caught lying about meeting with the Russian Ambassador during the Republican National Convention.
But today Devin Nunes unilaterally canceled the next round of Trump-Russia public hearings without consulting any Republicans or Democrats on his committee. Combined with his bizarre leaking of supposed classified Trump-Russia evidence this week, it’s not clear if Manafort, Page and Stone would even have hearings to testify at. Their sudden cooperation can only be taken at face value if they now agree to testify before the Senate Intel Committee.
Action Item: House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (numbers to the Republicans). Should let them know you see through the attempted obstruction.
Ask that Devin Nunes resign as Intelligence Committee Chair and Form an Independent Commission (9/11 Style), and appoint a Special Prosecutor - The American People have a right to know what happened:

House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes went to extraordinary - and possibly illegal - lengths today when he announced that he had learned from unnamed “sources” that the Donald Trump transition team had been picked up on U.S. intel wiretaps, and that it all had nothing to do with Russia. Nunes is clearly trying to cover for Trump in a manner which goes beyond mere Republican Party lines. It turns out Nunes has his own personal financial ties to Russia which may be motivating him.
Nunes publicly revealed his supposed revelation today without saying where he got it from, without bothering to run it past anyone else on his committee first, and without consulting the FBI first, even though it’s actively investigating the Trump campaign due to its collusion with Russia. He then ran to the White House and briefed Donald Trump on the supposed information, leading to question of how Nunes could have classified information that Trump doesn’t have access to.
The stunt by Devin Nunes was clumsy, risky, suspicious, desperate, and likely to backfire on him. So why is Nunes putting himself at such great risk to try to create a distraction on Trump’s behalf? Let’s talk about the financial business that Nunes conducts with Russia. In addition to being a Congressman, he’s part owner of Alpha Omega Winery LLC. According to the Los Angeles Times he has $50,000 of his own money tied up in the winery, which is remarkable considering that the same report lists his total net worth at just $51,002. In other words, the winery is all Nunes has.
According to Scott Dworkin of the respected Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the Nunes’ winery has a Russian distributor who is close to Vladimir Putin. This means Nunes has the vast majority of his small net worth tied up in a business venture which partially relies on sales in Russia. At the least, Nunes benefits greatly if Trump remains in office long enough to continue repealing Russian sanctions. Is this why Nunes is so desperate to protect Trump?
Nunes must resign from the Intelligence Committee NOW!
Contact Congress Today and ask for an Independent Commission on Trump-Russian Scandal and a Special Prosecutor. Also, demand that Devin Nunes step down as Intelligence Committee Chair.
Action Item: House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (numbers to the Republicans). Should let them know you see through the attempted obstruction.

Here’s a connection that perhaps we should all have seen coming. Just one day after it was finally confirmed that Paul Manafort had indeed taken millions of dollars in payments from a Kremlin intermediary, as had long been suspected, additional information is coming to light about how that money was funneled from Russia to Manafort. And it turns out to have been facilitated by one of Donald Trump’s Russian pals as well as one of Trump’s cabinet members.
The Associated Press is now reporting that the money flowed from Russia to Paul Manafort by way of the Bank of Cyprus. If the name of this bank sounds familiar, it’s because four weeks ago Palmer Report pieced together that Wilbur Ross and Dmitry Rybolovlev both have (or had) ownership stakes in that bank.
Ross is now Donald Trump’s Secretary of Commerce. Rybolovlev has had suspicious real estate transactions with Trump, and he keeps flying in on a private plane to meet up with him in various cities. And now it turns out that, going back as long as twelve years, Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman Paul Manafort was funneling his secret payments from the Kremlin through this same bank. But there’s much more to it.
As we reported six weeks ago, investigators for the state of New York busted Germany’s Deutsche Bank for laundering money from Russia through Bank of Cyprus into the hands of clients in New York City. In fact, U.S. Attorney Preet Bhahara was pursuing a parallel federal investigation into Deutsche Bank for that same Russian money laundering scheme, when Donald Trump fired him earlier this month.
Deutsche Bank has also been notoriously loaning large amounts of money to Donald Trump in recent years, even though Deutsche has been struggling financially, and even though most banks view Trump as a poor loan risk due to his repeated use of corporate bankruptcy. These loans have never made sense, leading to the question of whether the Deutsche loans were a mere cover for Russia funneling money to Trump through Bank of Cyprus. And now it turns out Russia was in fact funneling money to Trump’s campaign chair through that same Bank of Cyprus, owned by Rybolovlev, who keeps flying in to meet with Trump.

    Let's get several things straight:
    1) How on earth could the Russians influence our election? If it was possible the DNC would have told us how.
    2) I suspect that are a lot of Americans who are somehow equating Russia with the Soviet Union. The Soviet Era was but a short period in Russia's history. Russia now suffers from some the the same ills of unbridled capalism that we do. No ecconomic system is perfect.
    3) Civilian and military deaths in Russia during WW II were between 15 and 20 million people. During WW II the Americn Homeland had no civilian casulties. Most Americans do not know the suffering of war personally. Do you really think Russia wants war? They do not.
    3) I suggest that people listen very carefully to Putin's speaches at the Valdai Club. I dare say that Congressman Gowdy is probably only one of a few of our leaders who has the intelligence to particpate in the Valdai Club meetings.
    4) Why did the FBI refuse to look at the DNC servers? The FBI received a report from a p[rivate company, Crowdstrike stating that there was no problem. Crowdstrike was hired by the DNC. It is my contention that THE DNC SPOOFED A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TRUMP TOWER SERVERS AND THOSE OF THE RUSSIAN AFA BANK. They do not want the serevers looked at for that and perhaps other reasons.
    5) Under the 1947 UKUSA agreement related to ECHELON, the precurser to our curren t surveilance programs, a member country can request another member country to conduct surveilance on a target of the requester's country. By so doing, member countries avoid the laws regarding the surveilance of their own citizens. Therefore there is no FISA paper trail. There is legal deniability.
    6) I have no doubt that rogue intelligence people may have something to do with the leaks of classified information.
    7) The bottom line is that there is no connection between Trump and Russia.
    8) Individuals and companies, beltway bandit members of the industrial complex who want to suck our tax dollars to feed it as well as the globalists want war. Trump does not.
    9) It is not Russia that is the problem. It is the US that has violated agreements. NATO has been provoking Russia without reason.
    10) The US fomented a coup in the Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine has many Russians. Putin had every reason to be concerned.
    11) Russia did not "annex" Crimea. Crimea had been part of Russia until it was given by Kruschev to the Ukraine in the 50s. Because of the problem in Ukraine, they wanted to return to Russia. It was decided by referendum. The people are now happy. End of story. No harm. No foul.
    12) Why is Comey not answering the important questions? Who has his loyalty. I suspect he is not loyal to the American people.

Sometimes Gowdy doesn't seem too sharp on this subject matter. He's trying to determine "who" did what in a world full of spies. (?) How can they be guilty of knowing what they are trained to know. Releasing the truth about that knowledge outweighed the cost of keeping it secret.

Gowdy rhetoric seems to be ok with the leak by Comey of Clinton emails days before the election. This hearing is happening because Trump wanted to change the conversation away from Russia's involvement in the election. Why is there always such a glaring example of double standards and hypocrisy between republicans and democrats?
Both parties want to screw over 99% of the people. All republicans cheering on their great leader at this time, should know that republicans have control of education (propaganda) military secret police (blackwater) the judicial, and its only a matter of time before the guy who's not really racist will get his racist puppetmasters to call him the great leader or similar. All FISA Courts and anything issued by them are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. So are FBI/DHS NSLs (National Security Letters). They're therefore unlawful. Just because government/tyrants scream "public safety" or "national security" does not enumerate to them any special or unlawful powers. They've just got most of you convinced that it does.

@Jason Addison.....What rock did you just crawl from under? Have you been paying attention to anything over the past eight years. I am thinking not. It's the problem of the Democrats that Trump's conduct is being brought to light. It's the Democrats that make Trump lie continuously, is it the Democrats who are responsible for Trump childish antics? Is it the Democrats who are responsible for Trumps embarrassing behavior? Are you fucking confused. Your party got to this position for not telling you the truth in the first place, the rest you did all by yourself. Then to insert that republicans were so cooperative with the Obama and his administration for the past eight years. Questioning his citizenship, accusing him of being a traitor, accusing him of being Muslim in spite of the fact that he wasn't, your party intentionally did every fucking thing you could to hurt Obama's Administration and his family.....that's cooperation? Or maybe none of that happened! Wait, it's all a democratic lie! The Democrats made it up!
It's not the Democrats bringing this country down. It's not the Democrats who have turned this great nation into a laughing stock, it's not the Democrats responsible for the Nation's lack of credibility on the world stage, it's not the Democrats who succumb to conspiracy theories and lies, It's no the Democrats who have embarrassed this's Trump, it's the Republicans and it's you! Instead of standing up for what is right and truthful, you have deluded ourselves into thiking all of this mess is everyone else's fault but yours and your party's. Better wake up! Better pull your head our of your ass, Better start paying attention because the one who is hurting you is Trump, the party that is helping him do it is the Republicans and when you end up on your ass, blame yourself for being victimized by the cult of personality. Leaks have been a part of each administration dating back to the Clinton administration maybe further and then throughout the Bush and Obama administration. I just find it interesting that these republicans have the opportunity to ask the director of the FBI about subjects concerning the integrity of our democracy yet they are more worried about something that has been present for decades. Just a thought for you guys feel free to respond I love a healthy discussion;)

Gowdy is making more statements, than asking questions of Comey. Gowdy seems pulling Comey in a direction in which Comey is getting off the hook. I say, too many statements, not enough tripping questions to expose the lies.

You are just too stupid to understand something too complex for your tiny closed minded brain. You listened to soo much of that horseshit that you are actually believing it. And I'll ask you two of the easiest questions for your simple mind. I wouldn't want you to change the subject- where is the proof that (1)Russia hacked the DNC, (2) Trump colluded with Russia?

I wonder how much Obama, Clinton and/or Soros paid Commie to mislead
Congress with unsubstantiated allegations while refusing to answer
whether he and Obama discussed wiretapping Trump.
Meanwhile, the committee should be investigating Obama, Clinton, Comey, Lynch, McCain
& Graham and following HARD EVIDENCE, instead of puffing up
unfounded hearsay allegations against President Trump. Comey's refusal
to answer is an ADMISSION of guilt and conspiracy/collusion. President

Why does anyone think Gowdy did a good job? He simply droned on stating facts we already knew, and only asked a simple question with a simple answer, that he and all of us already knew.
Leaking is bad, but the original intent of this was to investigate Russia involvement in getting Trump elected, which we have had confirmed.
Without leaks, Nixon would have remained president...
