  • Dr. Joe Dispenza is teaching the world how to empower and heal our mind through meditation and mindfulness. His studies have proven that when well practiced these tools can put us on the path to understanding and breaking deep-rooted bad habits and even heal illnesses. The author of Becoming Supernatural explains how to stop your mind from controlling you on this episode of Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu.
    SHOW NOTES:
Joe describes how habits and experiences shape us over time. [2:40]
Joe speaks on the relationship between your body and the unconsciousness mind. [12:10]
Joe details the power meditation can have on the way you think and live. [16:20]
Joe and Tom discuss the roadblocks of creating long-term change. [23:03]
Joe explains how epigenetics contribute to change. [27:40]
Joe tells the impact he wants to have on the world. [30:46]

    QUOTES:
“Emotions are the end product of past experiences.” [3:20]
“The best way to predict your future is to create it, not from the known but from the unknown. What thoughts do you want to fire and wire in your brain? What behaviors do you want to demonstrate in one day? The active rehearsing, then mentally closing your eyes and rehearsing the action." [13:15]
“The moment you start feeling abundant and worthy, you are generating wealth. The moment you're empowered and feel it, you're beginning to step towards your success. The moment you start feeling whole, your healing begins and when you love yourself and you love all of life, you will create an equal and now you're causing an effect.” [14:57]
“Knowledge is power, but knowledge about yourself is self empowerment.” [24:10]

Joe Dispenza says very wise and true words. What he says is completely useful for everyone. But if you look at many other interviews with him, he repeats word for word what he says here. It's a memorised spiel. I find this ironic for someone strongly pushing a theory about consciously not repeating your habits.

There is no such thing as subconscious and conscious as if you have two independent working brains. There is logical/Risk assessment and there is the memory bank (knowledge, experiences)....that's it, whatever your mind tells you is not necessarily your own generated thoughts but they could be either exogenous inputs, other people influences, and the conclusions you made based on past experiences.

4:50 "95% of who we are by the time we're 35 years old, is a memorized set of behaviors, emotional reactions, unconscious habits hardwired attitudes beliefs and perceptions that functions like a computer program"
That is so true that it's actually funny. That ofcourse only applies to individuals that do not actively seek personal growth and live in the illusion of the "rat race".

  • Mark Solezo
    Mark Solezo 21 day ago

This knowledge and information has been around for decades but that's never said by the speaker. I knew all this when I was a child in the 90s.
Bruce Lipton repeats this knowledge over and over again and makes a good living out of it.
The guy that runs the Sedona Methods makes lots of money with the same information and he owns the rights for the "method".
Gregg Braden adds to this info with something called The Divine Matrix, sounds like some type of religion without evidence.
There are a lot of people changing the words for this knowledge and it becomes theirs.
Does it work! Yes! It does work ! But to claim is your invention is dishonest.

"So then, what are the emotions that are connected to survival? Let's name them. Anger, aggression, hostility, hatred, competition... etc"
Sure, but the social environment that our monetary system creates is one of competition. If you do not compete in the game of labor for income, you basically have no right to life on this planet. This is what is incentivized by our capitalist economy. These are the dominant values in society. Choosing to meditate rather than address the shortcomings of our economic system is only a patchwork, myopic, solution. We are products of our daily habits. This includes chiseling off of each other so that we may survive in the modern world.

tita adorno these people are just mere salesmen that’s it. TVclip has them coming from everywhere out of no where. I read one review on amazon on his book “breaking the bad habit of being yourself” and it said everything I needed to hear so I can know what type of person this man was. Trust I’ve been around these ideas and philosophies for quite some time now. Since the secret, Napoleon hill, Kevin Trudeau who is a scum bag among many other books and many videos. I understand the concept, the idea is to maintain positivity, optimism and rearranging your thought pattern to manifest your ideal life. But anyway I had high hopes for his book until I read that comment on amazon. I’m not completely dismissing what he’s saying, but what he’s saying has already been said before, he’s just packaging his differently.

THIS was SUCH a good video Tom!!!!! And I am mind blown by the eloquent conveyance of neurology and its impact on our lives in general by Dr. Joe Dispenza. I was particularly thrilled when you asked for clarification on how do we make sure that the "a-ha" moments don't just occur with insights then being the result of no provocation of action, because as you said I was one of the people watching and being flooded with a'ha moments. Very pivotal moment for me was when Dr. Joe D said "When the body becomes stronger than the mind, that is when the servant has become the master." Very powerful. Thank you again to the both of you!

I can understand that long term memories are created from highly emotional experiences! However i can't understand why we can't create long term memories without emotional experiences? Experiments have shown that if we take a person and hook their brains up to certain PET scans and ask them to look at a certain object and they watch certain areas of the brain light up and then they'd ask them to close their eyes and now imagine the same object and when they imagine that same object it produces the same areas to light up as if they were actually visually looking at. So who sees then? Does the brain see or do the eye see?

I wonder what Joe would have to offer about the work of Kelly McGonigal (Author of 'The Upside to Stress'). I've read that her assertions are based on very weak and inconclusive studies. (that our perception of the stress response can all but reverse the negative impact of stress on the mind and body). my personal experience has been that it does have a great psychological affect, (I've had problems with anxiety throughout my life). Placebo effect would be my best guess. "My increased heart rate is my mind and body preparing for action. I'm not anxious, I'm alert, excited, and prepared." and such. Would the mind still be flooded with cortisol and be under (negative) stress if we talk ourselves through it with a positive narrative, spin? or are we just fooling ourselves and our mind/body is suffering regardless. Be interesting to hear his thoughts.

I really hope someone reads this. Have you ever just stared off into space randomly without even really thinking about anything really? Like say when you were a kid and your parents told you to get ready for school, and you just kinda sat on your bed staring out the window without a thought in your head really. You’re just zoned out. And then your parents come back in and yell at you after a little bit that you’re gonna be late. Or maybe YOU are a parent and you’ve seen YOUR kids do that.
That staring off into space right there, is the purest form of meditation there is. Your mind is basically running diagnostics and repair on itself. Like when you start up a computer, if you click the internet browser right away, it won’t start up immediately because it has a few background programs it wants to finish running first or something. And when you wait a few minutes, clicking it will start it up pretty much instantly. Next time you start up your computer, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click task manager, then click on the ‘Performance’ tab and you’ll see the CPU Usage. Even though YOU aren’t running any programs aside from Task Manager, the CPU usage is fluctuating rapidly. And then after a bit it will go down to just a few percent. That’s basically what happens in our minds when we ‘zone out’, so to speak. Like I said before, it is the purest form of meditation that there is. You’re subconscious is daydreaming. Your mind is running neurological diagnostics and repair on itself. Kids were always told ‘stop staring off into space’ and that is part of the reason why there are so many more issues with attention and learning and anxiety and depression and etc. that today than in previous years. Not to mention, technology (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) all provide a constant stimulus that prevent that innate diagnostic & repair mechanism from running. That’s also why mental issues are so much more frequent. I was honestly contemplating whether or not I should post this but I decided to. Hopefully someone can learn from this and make use out of it.
