    Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Why does she make such large portions?
When she was in Italy, she would cook and bake in such large quantities so she wouldn’t have to take time every day to make food, and instead be able to work on the farm. Many of her recipes can be cut in half or quartered if you choose to try them out!
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
    Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
    Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

Hi Nonna Gina, I hope you are well. I love watching your videos and listening to you. Brings back lovely memories of my mamma. I actually have a request for you if possible. When I was a bambino my nonna used to make lovely biscotti but I can’t remember their name. It was a sweet biscuit and it had marzipan on it. She used to cut it into different shapes with her cookie cutters and I loved them. Would they be called something like “buffana”?? I would love to know the recipe and try making them with my bambini if you have any idea what I am talking about. Take care and love to you xx

I absolutely love you. Since I found you, you are the only Italian Nonna that I watch. I love your broken English and Italian. I love your Halleleuia's, I love your prayers over your food and your singing. You are a lost generation when home made really meant home made. My heart leaps and I smile from ear to ear as it brings me back in time to my own Italian Grandmother and to my mother. They both cooked like you do. They were from Vallefiorita di Catanzaro Italy. God Bless You. I have a question. What kind of oil do you use to fry the Zeppoli?
Also, I have been trying to find someone that knows a prayer at bedtime that my Grandmother use to say. I only remember it in part and I am missing much. I was hoping that you know it. If you do please write it for me in Italian. It is speaking to the angel to watch over me during the night and if they hear something to wake me. Calling on the Name of Jesus. Thank You dear Nonna, your family is so very blessed to have you.

Amazing! I just put it on a platter. And yes, we started while warm. Soooo good. Gina, you are awesome and so is all you make. This dough is so easy to make and so delicious. I will make it again, adding something else. Maybe walnuts and dried apples?
I think I left it too long to rest. One quarter stayed on the baking dish. But nobody cares, it's so yummy.
I also run out of cinnamon. The third tablespoon was dry cocoa. It worked. I can taste the cinnamon and a hint of chocolate. My granddaughters won't be able to come tomorrow as planned. Jerry (BF] said he'll take care of it... he he he. I think I'll try freezing part of it. Not sure how it will work.
Thank you so much Gins for this wonderful recipe. I will keep it among my favorites. (One of many I have made)
Love hugs and kisses from this Chilena/American fan of yours.
    Stay well.

Do wonderful meaning to do what she know how to do ...just one question who would give her the same ingredients but organic ones ??? ...,nothing would change for her .,she would do the same recipe....but for ...her health it would change 100%....i will try her recipe....but NEVER with the same ingredients she uses for sure....a pity no one could explain to her also that using aluminium in cookware and as cooking sheet is the most unhealthy thing to do .....AND DON’T come around answering ....til now she is ok!!!!
I wish it will stay like this forever...but it has been proven that aluminium is one of the toxic ingredients to let alzheimer in the door ...
So if you like your grandma Gina let her know....

Gluten has gotten a bad rap in recent years. Unless you have celiac disease, gluten is just fine. When Gina is mixing the dough with her hands to make it stretchy, she is developing the gluten in the dough. It is the same function as kneading bread dough. This allows the dough to rise. Thank you Grandma Gina! I’ll definitely be making this cake!
