Any of the two... whether they have to dramatically update the Il-96 like what Boeing did to the 747-8 or create a completely new airliner... But we don't know from them.

This Il-96-400 should be the latest Russian future wide body passenger jetliner. I love those Russian airplanes and like your video because you make an excellent coverage aircraft history which why I’m very interesting about aviation and I love to fly airplanes.

I would suggest for the interim stage of time go for the 2 Engine IL-96-400X with narrower passage ways to fit in an extra 4th seat in the middle isle. Make more use of carbon composites for weight reduction and throw out the "appendix" third middle wheel boogie. And whallah!! You will have a great competitor. For the long term time stage go and develop a more flat eliptical airliner body to acommodate more seats /row or even rooms for keeping children busy or for the passengers who need special attention. The flatter wider body can be coincide with a thick top mounted delta or diamond shape wing with a 48* leading edge swept angle for more speed and more space for jet fuel and lift. It will be a revolutionised concept that will gain popularity. And yes get rid of the Arab supply of jet fuel and refine cheaper jet fuel from your own resources making such airliners more fuel efficient and economical.

Unfortunately the development in this segment is moving to planes with two engines.
I see no reason for a development o a four engine plane.
Does anybody, except the Russian Government ordered this plane?
This step of evolution has gone.
Same as the A 380 it will have no future. But does Russia has access to
    turbofans with a sufficient performance?
Does the project Il-98 with two fans exists?

Yes during the ussr era the aeroflot safety record was bad, but now with it's new 737's, 777's and especially the a320 and a330's, aeroflot is amongst any normal European company and hardly anyone can deny that, I recently just had an aeroflot flight from Warsaw to Moscow and it was absolutely great, good service, it arrived perfectly on time and I honnetly think I experienced the smoothest landing of my life with them. To me aeroflot is a really good company

I recall visiting MAKS in 2001, going aboard the IL-96 with the Collins cockpit. IL-96T was the cargo version which received U.S. FAA certification under FAR-25, however the bilateral agreement limits heavy Russian aircraft to the Cargo market to this day. More work needs to be done in order to expand the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement to recognize Russian passenger airliners, helicopters, engines, etc. In those days I was meeting people such as Alexander Rubtsov (seen in film), Gennadi Novozhilov, Nikolai Talikov and other leaders in Russian aviation. Long story also involves Tupolev, Beriev ANTK, Rosoboronexport, and a bunch of helicopter people.

the title is misleading as no four engine airplane will ever be a flagship plane. IL should have spent the last ten years and using private funds to rewing and re-engine the il96 to two engines which may have required a shorter fuselage and if they incorporated some composites then they'd have a plane that could compete in regions like Russia and China

It’s a little discomforting to see the 400T with the engines so close together. It’s too damn easy to have an uncontained engine explosion take out both engines. 5:40. The vertices stabilizer is so much larger in the 400.

There have been ore aircraft crashes with fatalities than there have been crashes with fatalities by Russian made aircraft. It is how one reads statistics. In the US you have several hundred airlines. In the Russian republics not as many. And there are also many Airbus, Boeing and McDonald Douglas crashes that have been identified as Russian air crashes avoiding the connection to US or European aircraft. It is this selective identification of crashes that gives Russian aviation a bad reputation.
