Cuaron´s attention to detail was the mother of all extremes. Watch the scene at minute 6:16, a hill in the background, a legend on it reads LEA, which is 1970 political propaganda referring to President Luis Echeverría Álvarez, President of Mexico 1970-76. Echeverría is still alive,104 years old, 1915 born. Older than JFK!! *It is as if Nixon and JFK were still alive !!*

    • Andrew Ochoa
      Andrew Ochoa 3 months ago

@Right Shoe Lol! I don't watch that crap!. I'm not saying Roma is a bad film or a good one either. I found it very very boring. long and without anything transcendental except depiction of a typical mexican high class family in the 70's and the story of the help that's very typical. There's no mexican that can deny that. It's embedded in our culture. whether you like it or not.
Art is not camera movement, good photography, etc. If that's to you ok. For me art is beyond those technicalities that snob people love to talk about. Art its making something that future generations can appreciate like Mozart or Rembrand. That one can watch, hear, see over and over and don't get tired right away. I found Roma a movie that yes it might get an oscar and stuff but I doubt it can be call art just because Cuarón is a renowned director or the social-political message behind it and some awards say so. Time will judge if this movie is still appreciate in the same manner or it will just be an ok film. Don't judge people just because someone doesn't share your point of view or because you think all mexicans watch crap. In USA they also make bad movies like No Manches Frida too or worse, so there's that.

    • Right Shoe
      Right Shoe 3 months ago

I was able to enjoy it even more since I know spanish, you guys keep watching "no manches frida" and those sort of movies, this was a movie made for people who love art not simple jokes or senseless action with fast moving cameras.

He estado muy inconforme y algo enojado.
    papel importante, o cualquier papel.

It's been a few years now, that I have been wanting to protest, I am sorry that it has to public, to make in private would be much more difficult. I have been disappointed and
a little angry. Last year I was so close but didn't know who to send this protest to the right person or persons, therefore I let it go. Still I don't know the best way or how to
do it without sounding too angry but I have to do it, it can not wait any longer.
Last year I was thinking of contacting these people through their Facebook accounts but likely their accounts who all have access, aren't managed by them. Their legit
facebook accounts are probably private or full of restrictions as to so that no just anyone can send them messages. Perhaps Twitter could be more effective but I have
never used it. I will open a Twitter account to check out. In the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions for contacting important people, please contact me and let me know.
Like I said, last year was The Shape of Water, before that, it was The Revenant, Birdman, Gravity, Babel, Pan's Labyrinth, etc.
What do this movies have in common? That the directors are Mexican. What else do they have in common? That I don't remember a Mexican or Latin actor in an important role,
    or any role.
Thank you Gareth Edwards and George Lucas for giving an important role to Diego Luna in Star Wars: Rogue One.
I understand that Film Directors aren't in charge of Casting but some of them are even producers of the films and surely are in position to ask for Mexican and Latin actors
    in their works.
So, I am going to start leaving this comment in TVclip videos that are marketing their work. I will also try their Facebook accounts. I will include Al Chivo Lubeski who seems
to be a nice and humble man.
Please, your suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

Cuarón managed the political correct times perfectly. He also took advantage of the mexican movie consumer market (one of the most profitable in the world), they love to wrap themselves in the flag for anything, no matter how mediocre the product. It shows you what Hollywood and all these awards are all about: popularity and political correctness; heck, even Black Panther is nominated as best picture. hilarious.
