The A330 is such a fine aircraft to travel in. I love it. 2-4-2 is very nice in economy. It’s also pretty quiet inside and not too big. Which means no overcrowding at the gate due to a lack of seating.

An old aircraft newly refitted???...with such dated business class seating and malfunctioning IFE/WiFi!!!!......typical Air France. The cabin lights should be dimmed on takeoff/landing. It is for passenger safety, especially at night. The blinds/shades should always be raised/open also. I wonder if Air France chooses to ignore established safety guidelines or was it pilot error??.

Hi David. Love your reviews. Always fair and en pointe.Yes the new interiors of the A330 are the best. Flew Air Mauritius' A339 neo last month btwn Kuala Lumpur and MRU vv. I really like this aircraft- much more than the hyped A350/787. Especially in economy the 2-4-2 configuration is simply 'humane'. Much like the 767 was. Hope more airlines order the neo and keep this aircraft in production. P.s. please come to the South Pacific sometime and specifically fly AirCalin's beautiful new A330neo? Perhaps from Tokyo/Osaka/ Tahiti/Sydney to Noumea. They are a superb little airline from New Caledonia. The little airlines typically try harder than the big boys. Tchuss!

Merci for sharing this very interesting video. From what I can see I would also say it looks like a decent eco product, with a modern cabin and rather good food. It's annoying though that the IFE + Wifi didn't work properly. The answer to your question is that concourse C/D are to be replaced. That's why the station at C was built where the future concourse C will be (see Wikipedia:
Dulles is a difficult airport ;), which appeared on Bloomberg's Airport Frustration index - ranked third.

    • themiloboys
      themiloboys Month ago

@InflightXperience as someone who has worked at IAD for the past 33 years, let me expand on the answer above. The C station is where the new terminal was supposed to be, I fact they told us about the move to the new terminal in 2000 that would have taken place in the 2003-2004 time frame, but after 9/11 (and subsequent bankruptcies)the plans stopped, but the train construction did not. We have always hoped that the terminal would be built but I don't think it will ever happen especially with the new huge construction of a United Polaris Lounge near gate C17.

I wouldn’t call bread and juice a breakfast. Every carrier is cutting down on the second meal to increase profits, as usual. Lufthansa being the latest offender and they claim it’s because customers demanded it lol. At this point the “fancy “ breakfast packaging costs more than the meal itself.

  • hmpstd

    Great video as always, Loris.
According to Wikipedia, the current C/D concourse is scheduled to be demolished and replaced in the near future, so construction of the Aero Train to D has presumably been delayed until after that process is well underway. (Even after the replacement, they still plan to use people movers to take arriving international passengers from D to the US Customs area.)
The Eero Saarinen terminal was designed and built before jet bridges became popular, and is sandwiched in between two main runways (1C/19C to the west, and 1R/19L to the east), with access roads and parking areas to the north. When they decided to add jet bridges without desecrating the Saarinen design, their only option for expansion was to add the concourses due south of the terminal and between the same two runways.
