  • This movie is about a poverty stricken post-economic apocalypse wasteland where people want to escape reality...kinda like Venezuela.
In this episode of Econmovies, I talk about the different types of virtual economies, income taxes, cryptocurrencies, and the secret Easter egg hidden in the story. By the way, I added a few pop culture references. Let me know which ones you fnd. Also, please like and leave a comment to win a DVD of Ready Player One autographed by me- the one and only Jacob Clifford. Thanks for watching.

DVD lol, This movie must have been based on "Second Life" the online video game. I.O.I. must be a play on LOL. This can also be "World of Warcraft". I think the very first internet economy game was "Diablo 2", where people actually sell items for real money and get transferred via PayPal, huge underground market. Wait maybe I.O.I. is a play on I.O.U.

in the video he says 28% of American income pays for consumer debt I also know that about 30% of a persons income goes to Housing so a total of 58%. The median American income is $50,000 and the tax is 15%. Now the total is 73% debt. What do Americans use for their last 27% eat food, pay health insurance, survive.

Hi, Jacob just a very quick question, you discussed about the education loans, its not a choice for some, and is one of the biggest issue students face. As you say "Being an ECON helps you solve most of the problems". How would you solve this. Thanks on behalf of common students.

Always interesting video. I like my status in mental piece without debt. But a bit scared I might put in the mental prison soon because of soaring housing price. You said education debt is now a growing problem. In my opinion, that's not a problem. Universities are now in the creative destruction period. People can learn from the internet quickly. The old way, Old education should be destructed. The more the university fees increase, the more people would stop wasting their time and money. On one hand, it is a good thing. But for the housing, there should be some alternative way and policy. House is a basic factor for life. As the wealth-poor gap is bigger, only a few people own most of the houses and earn money. Most of the people become have debt or homeless. I feel this very seriously. As I see many homeless in subways, I feel fear. Even though I sit in a warm room, the velocity of the social change makes me feel scared. People need to realize it.

I love this movie and im currently studying a major in macroeconomics. So you sir just got a new sub. Keep up the good work and remember in a time when everybody is approaching the idiocracy mentality. This kind of videos wont be "pewdepie" material, since you are not a buffon screaming while playing Fortnite. So dont get discouraged if your sub bar dont grow like crazy.

    1885 - Dow Jones started
    1985 - up 1000 points after 100 years.
After two decades it has risen more than 11000 points.
This because of rising debt leading to irrational exuberance.
