Seeing that Jim Henson got so many NOs is kinda reassuring. Even an absolute legend like him wasn’t perfect and failed plenty of times. I’m bad with criticism too but he was an example of how to handle it despite taking it so hard.

You should do an episode on Opryland. A tonne of history on that one: WSM, the Grand Ole Opry, and the birth of Nashville's country music industry, to the whole thing collapsing in the space of a year due to a philistine finance director taking over from the CEO. The book "Air Castle of the South" by Craig Havighurst has the most detail.

Whoa and here I thought I knew a lot about The Muppets. You've come up with so much good information here it's unbelievable! I'm genuinely shocked at how much you've said here that I didn't already know.
As a small point of advice, you could really work on sound levelling a bit. Especially the intro is comparatively too loud, but the narration is also too quiet (largely due to the low tone, esp. on mobile) compared to most of the clips of the show.
Not enough to ruin the experience though. Great video!

I've been putting off watching this cause I knew what would happen. Pretty much any time I watch scenes of Henson era Muppets I tend to start tearing up. It's one connection to the innocence of my childhood that I refuse to give up. And it was a great thing to have had The Muppet Show on air as a kid.

I was so happy when The Muppet Show found its way to TV. Previous to this, the only place I could see them was late night TV, which I was too young to watch, or Sesame Street, which is was embarrassingly too old for but watched in secret anyhow. Now, at last, I could step out of whatever closet that put me in and proudly say I was a Muppet Fan!

Really truly great stuff as always, and I sincerely mean that, I've been loving these so much -- but I will point out that this episode really put a strong emphasis on the only notable weakness of this series, the random fits of going over extraneous details like specific songs and bits in episodes rather than keeping on theme with the big picture, as well as a rather huge amount of subjective wording (calling so many bits 'beautiful', 'memorable' etc) which is never ideal. Otherwise, no criticisms; keep doing what you're doing.

THIS SERIES IS GOLD BTW. I'm only writing this bc of something personal. My dad was in high school in the mid-late 70s and was a big fan of the grateful dead (certain things between us have gone unspoken for mutual reasons) but I showed him this series and we binge watched a bunch of the more raunchy (for the time) muppets show episodes. So thank you man.

My grandpa was a intern at SNL when Jim was working there, he met him personally a few times, he told me that he was almost always tired in the break room, when he left it’s like he was a whole different person quote “Hensen was a hippie, a lot of the writers would talk behind his back when they were told to write for his show.”
