I was lucky enough to travel around New Zealand for 13 weeks......wow !!! ......What an amazing beautiful country. Sadly the possums are wreaking havoc with the native wildlife, when i was there a New Zealander told me "the only good possum was a dead possum"
Please please.......if you ever have the chance to go to New Zealand do it !!!!!

I'm not sure who bought possums to NZ but they don't belong there. They belong in Australia. Apparently they are wrecking the environment so that's a perfect use for them.

Hey Luke, you opened the package with a knife. What knife is your EDC. What are some of your favorite brands? Do you put much money in your knives, hatchet, machete, saws etc or do you just get a cheap knife that cuts. Would love to see some reviews on the cutting tools you use. Thanks.

This may sound silly but where does the expression 'kick back' come from ? What and why would you kick backwards ? It does not make any sense what so ever

    • Bluey Black
      Bluey Black 5 months ago

It means you "sit back and relax" in your chair. Like this: www.open.edu/openlearn/ocw/pluginfile.php/1303367/mod_oucontent/oucontent/66550/46975c5d/053bb916/a20_relaxed_man.jpg
You generally have to push on the table with your foot ("kick") to push yourself "back" and get your chair to tilt. = "kick back"
I used to do it all the time in school (when the chair wasn't attached to my desk), and it's comparatively more comfortable to sitting correctly lol!!

Just remember the thing about New Zealand and Australia. Just about everything down there can kill you and even if it can’t kill you it wants too.

Hey Luke, I went to New Zealand on a cruise from the Uk. We berthed in Akoroa and there is a wool shop there. Yes they are real possum wool, the possum is classed as vermin over there. I bought socks, jumpers, base layers. 2 of everything.
Yes they are really warm, my winter go to kit and they feel really comfortable as well.
I will be interested to see your review

Hi Luke, a little off topic. I would love to see you test some old Coleman 502 or 508 stoves, or a 220 lamp. You can get them at garage sales for about $15. They are superior in durability compared to my modern cooking gear. My Coleman lantern old 220 is brighter than modern Coleman. I just love using them when car camping. I think it's the best bargain for the money these days. My old Alda 1500 Express is by far the brightest lantern of any modern lantern and it is built like a tank. Just an idea, but be careful. It can be addictive

    HI !
SOMETIMES THINGS FALL IN THE BEHIND BOXES, OTHER BAGS ,ETC . I'M FINDING OUT MYSELF! I WAS MOVING STUFF FROM MY ROOM & GETTING STUFF DOWN FROM MY MOM AND DADS ATTIC TO PUT IN THE GARAGE TO GO THROUGH. WHEN I CAME ACROSS CONTAINERS WITH MY CAMPING GEAR I WAS SLOWLY BUYING TO HOPEFULLY DO WHAT I WATCH ON YOU'LLS CHANNELS. I WATCH & ENJOY EVERYONE'S JOURNEYS MORE THAN WATCHING TV / CABLE ! I FOUND 6 TENTS . SO YESTERDAY I PUT THEM ALL UP IN THE BACK YARD JUST TO SEE IF I COULD REMEMBER HOW THEY SET UP PLUS IT WAS SUPPOSE TO RAIN REALLY HARD OVER THE EVENING, NIGHT AND THE NEXT MORNING. OUR WEATHER PEOPLE SAID TORONTOES FARTHER UP NORTH IN MARYLAND. ANYWAY THE ONLY ONE HAD A LITTLE WETNESS IN IT / MARMOT 3P ASPEN TENT. QUESTION IS WOULD IT BE BETTER TO SOAK THE WHOLE TENT TO GET IT WATERPROOF OR SPRAY IT & WHAT WOULD YOU USE ? GOT THIS TENT FOR MY GRANDSON SO WHEN WE GET A CHANCE TO GO CAMPING, CAR CAMPING FOR NOW, HIM & THE DOGS COULD HAVE THEIR OWN SPACE. THE DOGS CAMP IN THE BACK YARD WITH ME & THEY LOVE IT. LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS ! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS! ENJOYED! SORRY SO LONG OF A MESSAGE!

Possum down rocks. It has to be blended with wool to be stable, but it is much lighter and loftier than merino wool alone.
Thru-hikers have been using it in the US for years. Z-packs sells them in the US.
Now if we could just find a way to make silver carp boots or kudzu salad so we can reduce that problem.

Possums were introduced into NZ and quickly took over, because there are no natural predators for them. In Australia they struggle through drought and dry spells and have to deal with predators and battle other animals for habitat and food. The fur is warm and soft, so you get an income while dealing with an invasive pest - win for everyone (except the possum)

It’s a nuisance animal there. Not kin to our oppossum. Makes great winter wear-very warm, for hanging around camp, not heavy duty or particularly tough, but great for slipping into before going to sleep.

In case no one else has mentioned this, possums are very different than opossums. They're still ugly little critters that get into places you don't want them to be, but they're almost attractive marsupials whereas opossums look like a marsupial made by a very hung-over and grumpy God. :)

Not trying to be an jerk. I’m just curious why you keep referring to a toque as a toboggan? Is that what you personally call them or is that a North Carolina or American thing? In Canada a toboggan is something completely different en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toboggan
