Hey Team. I still hold altcoins. I sold the ones that were on Binance Exchange for Bitcoin. My portfolio is more consolidated now. I am trying to stick to only to coins I believe in. And of course I might enter into more alts if an alt season is confirmed. Don't get mad at me because I have a different strategy than you. I welcome many different opinions and am still trying to figure out the best way to invest in this market. I will still report on quality altcoin news and am actively looking for altcoins that will succeed in the coming bull market. If altcoins succeed, nothing would make me happier. Appreciate you Cheers!

*I'll get tons of hate for this but FWIW I'm honestly curious to know and do want BTC to succeed. If for no other reason than to keep institutional faith in crypto*
Somebody please explain to me the argument for "Bitcoin is the best and will be the world's top crypto by 2030"
    I can't understand this theory.
For starters; LTC is superior; it's transactions are 4X faster, it's more efficient to mine, it's far cheaper to mine*, and it's more decentralized. Litecoin *would* have made Bitcoin obsolete *if* cryptocurrency was a more familiar technology to the public at the time of Litecoin's introduction. But, since it wasn't well known, BTC maximalists were able to either manipulate the new comers and overall community's perception or worse, manipulate the crypto market, in favor of BTC**.
What *should* be more concerning is that LTC; a more advanced technology than BTC; is inferior to *many* ^ newer coins/tokens/projects.
Bitcoin's overall concept, technology, and creation was absolutely brilliant; more so than almost anything I can think of.
But, Bitcoin turned out to be the inception of cryptocurrencies, not the be-all end-all solution to financial anonymity and taking power from the institution.
I'm not biased towards LTC; I don't own much of either, unfortunately.
I think BTC is safe, for now and the foreseeable future, and to be honest; if I were forced to choose if it's more likely that BTC remains the highest valued coin (per coin) or that another coin passes it ($ per coin) I'd without hesitation say that BTC will always be the highest valued crypto, on a price per coin basis. As for LTC - I think it will eventually fall by the wayside^. Just like BTC, the technology isn't cutting edge anymore and LTC doesn't have the same brand recognition that BTC has (and clings to as the only means to stay on top).
With all that said (if there's anyone still reading) there's way more to say BUT since this comment is extra long, I'll make those points in a reply under this comment.
    * I know cheaper to mine could be an argument for LTC being less valuable but I think the decentralization that comes with the easier mining outweighs that argument.
** BTC maximalists hatched and carried out a plan to FUD XRP, I'm *positive* they did the same to LTC. I can't blame them in the case of LTC.
^ There's plenty of faster, more anonymous, more decentralized, coins than BTC.

    • skinny scrambler
      skinny scrambler 3 months ago

Reasons I don't believe 99% of BTC maximalists actually *believe* BTC is the best, they only preach it for personal financial reasons (I don't blame them):
First: LTC is superior; it's transactions are 4X faster, it's more efficient to mine, it's far cheaper to mine^, and it's more decentralized. Litecoin *would* have made Bitcoin obsolete *if* cryptocurrency was a more familiar technology to the public at the time of Litecoin's introduction. But, since it wasn't well known BTC maximalist were able to either manipulate the perception or worse, manipulate the crypto market, in favor of BTC*.
Really, what *are* BTC use cases and how are they technologically better than any other? It's not necessarily a knock on BTC that I think they're number 1 based almost exclusively on brand recognition, brand recognition/first to market is a very big deal. I just can't see any reason to perpetuate any different- aside from for personal financial reasons.
      *Arguments for BTC diehards* :
      (There's only a few I'm aware of)
      1. Decentralized.
      2. Anonymity.
      3. First to market/Brand recognition.
The first to market/brand recognition one is repeated ad nauseam. The other 2 arguments? They're achieved by *many* other coins, sometimes better and more so *-* Monero, Zcash, and Dash *instantly* come to mind.
As for the claim of decentralization?
70% of the mining is in China and 70% of that is done in one place (Implied that it's under 1 person/organization but the study didn't explicitly say. 80% of mining is done between 6 pools and 5 of those 6 are Chinese.
**BTW** There's 15% worth of mining unaccounted for (not sure why) so it's likely a higher % than 70% being mined in China.
So, all things considered; Bitcoin is *ABSOLUTELY DOMINATING* the crypto market, based *heavily* on brand recognition. I can't imagine BTC ever gets replaced as most valuable based on $ per coin unless there's a significant attack to BTC itself, making its price fall. No chance it's overtaken if it continues to be secure and I believe it is secure.

Don't ignore the fact that 1) young people (Gen Y, Z, and millenials) don't use facebook and 2) Gen X'ers are leaving FB in droves because they *hate them* . So what is the use case here? Everything I can do with FB coin I can already do with Visa/MC. All of the negatives of Visa/MC are still present with FB coin plus the cost of education, and getting people to adopt something new. The places that will use it for the 'unbanked'? Count China out FB is blocked so minus 1.6 billion right there. Places like Venezuela? *ALL* of the rules that prevent "money laundering" i.e. moving your money without monstrous fees and obtaining 19 levels of permission will all be present with FB coin so you can't use it to move money out of a kleptocratic police state. So exactly who is this for?

55+ year old people with facebook accounts who already have Visa and Mastercard and live in 1st world countries who don't need to move money overseas. Right. And this new coin solves a problem for their demographic how? It isn't like Amazon is going to stop taking anything else or the government is going to demand you use FB coin to pay taxes. Maybe FB can start charging customers for use of their service thus creating a market? Don't laugh I'm sure this is being discussed in silicon valley... FB is a loser coin with an aging demographic who doesn't need it as many parallels exist and even if they did need it the population would need serious education in order to use it. 1/2 of your demographic in the South already believes that Bitcoin is the precursor to the mark of the beast and now you're asking them to trust Zuckerburg coin? Yeah... not going to happen.

One thing your leaving out is the USA is banning exchanges that don't follow their regulation. For the rest of us on Earth, Binance is completely fine. Also, altcoins solve more than just commerce, they will stay and grow. Coinbase is following the pressure of the USA, which is why they will be permitted. Binance and others will be blocked by IP.

Bullish for BTC????? You GOT to be kidding! With Libra the fees will never be so high. Who will switch from Libra to BTC?
It will introduce people to crypto, but who wants to pay the BTC fees?
You sold Dash??? OMG! Dash confirms in seconds with fees less than a cent, is unpermissioned (as opposed to Libra), can handle 3 mln trx/day. Once people understand the Libra-scam they will not enter BTC, they will go into Dash. (or similar coin)
Someone will probably say "but lightning....". Lightning does not work as a scaling solution. How much time would it take for say 500 mln people to open 2 channels? Then you must make sure there is enough funds in them for you to use (someone else can move your funds basically from one channel to another by sending funds past your node). It is not well thought through.
