  • Conservatives and Labour suffer heavy losses, but for other parties there was cause for celebration, especially the Brexit Party and the Liberal Democrats.
The outcome re-affirmed the deep divide between supporters and opponents of the UK's planned exit from the European Union.

The Lib Dems, Labour and Green Party got more votes than the Brexit party combined which shows that there is support to remain but if there was a 2nd vote on Brexit then who ever wins will win with a small majority just like last time so won't solve anything

Interesting result, UK seems split between remain and hard brexit, this election was basically a rebuke of compromises put forth by labour and conservatives. The only options for the UK now going forward is full brexit or remain, and neither side wants to compromise.

The Tory party is utterly shitting itself. Their fear over Corbin getting into power is confirmed today when their government ran propaganda factory, the BBC, two days after they had a massive arse kicking, starts running a "big" "anti-semite" investigation into Labour. Coincidence you might say, give me a break. The people of the UK are no longer buying this crap.

The media claims that Farage 'won' are ludicrous! He got 32% of a 37% vote! Overall, anti Brexit parties claimed over 40%. You'd never think this from our lying media, who constantly show Farage in a highly positive light of which this agent of American business interests is far from worthy! And the ' lefty' BBC is as bad as any! Still what do you expect when the likes of Andrew Neill, Nick Robinson, and John Humphries dominate their political output!

I don't really see how the Brexit party won anything. They only got 29 seats out of 73. Of the remaining 44 seats maybe 39 of them are pro remain parties. 38 if we're a bit confused about how the DUP would vote. Farage didn't get enough seats to stake his claim on anything. Labour will probably be on the same side as the Lib Dems and with the Green party seats that is a big block of 33 seats. Add all the rest of the One seaters that are all pretty much on the remain side a d I would say the majority of the people who voted elected remain parties.

All that happened was that UKIP voters switched to the Brexit Party. The fact that the Conservatives and Labour here crushed should ring bells around their supporter base not agreeing with them in terms of their Brexit position. Fence sitting Corbyn has to get behind the party and the conservatives have to switch their position to Remain.

BREXIT PARTIES GET 52% OF THE VOTE. VICTORY

  • ivan ashley
    ivan ashley Month ago +2

Apparently, if you divide the parties by 5, add the square route of 16 then take away the number you first thought of, you too will reach the conclusion that remain was the message from the voters. Of course you'd need a good sprinkling of suspended reality. Come on folks lets get real, this was a clear message to get out of the EU. Think about it, ALL those that voted for the Brexit party want OUT and who knows how many Brexiteers voted for their usual party out of blind faith (oh, you know it happens) plus many others will have voted for parties that are more aligned with their views on burning topics like climate change, putting those ahead of a desire to leave the EU. If the public stance had truly moved away from Brexit, why did the Brexit party do so well and why didn't this huge groundswell of remainers turn out to vote? The CLEAR message to come from all of this is, "it's time to drain the swamp".

  • Eddy The Hawks

Scotland referendum = Yes 53.7%, No 47.7%. Brexit Leave 52%, 48%. Now remainers are asking for a second referendum, in that case The NO voters in Scotland deserve a second referendum too
