Michael Franzese (a caporegime and highest earner EVER for the Columbo family) said this was the most realistic of all the mob movies, so here I am!

What a film!! Awesome film from start to finish. Completely blows away John Travolta's version by a mile. Powerful acting from Armand Assante. I'm going to watch it again and again.

At 1:39:04, they should've added Gotti saying to the cop what the real Gotti said when he got arrested.
    "I'll give you 3-to-1 I beat this!"

Here's a question for anyone who reads this. In America we are fortunate enough to live in a country where, if you work hard, you can live a pretty comfortable life. Knowing that why do these people join the mafia?

A Reporter in Phoenix found Sammy the Bull after he opted out of the Witness Protection Program and it was in the News Paper there. Everybody in Phoenix that watched the news knew he was there, but he was never wacked. Why? Because the whole Gotti story was government and media hype. Sure they were organized criminals, but the money involved couldn't be anywhere near what the hype said it was. The government took over gambling with lotteries everywhere. Corporations took over casinos. Poker machines in bars make money, and some money is made on making book, but that's small time stuff. Larceny is petty crime. Stealing a few truckloads of "whatever" doesn't add up to squat. Prostitution is dead. If they weren't in the illicit drug game, then the only game left is white collar crime. Fraud, swindles and such, and the bankers, lawyers, corporations, and politicians cornered the market on that. $100,000 a week is only 5.2 million a year. The Mob guy Franzese generated millions stealing gasoline-tax money from the government, but that was essentially white collar crime.

They still controlled the unions and extortion. And the mob always was into drugs just on the import end.
