@Peni Parker also, if you care about jobs MFA. The reason I'm working for the company I do is that I'll die without medical insurance. I want medicare for all so I can start my own business. The American dream isn't even possible when they are holding health care hostage.

No qualifying polls for 6 weeks before primaries and January debate. DNC knows Andrew Yangs popularity, especially in Iowa and New Hampshire is above Biden and is trying to keep him out of the debates. I hope someone in your team sees all the comments I'm leaving and looks into this.

It's not even a sympathetic background?? Yes its emotional to see a story of him as a child being abused but *even the movie* does not try to justify his actions, its crystal clear in the movie that he is mentally deranged and most of the murders are not justified by his childhood story.

It's so fucking funny, because with all this Joker hubbub in the news, I bet you that hardly anybody, crazy person or other, would have been thinking about shooting up a theatre if no news came out. If you tell people to not do something, some few, no matter how crazy that something is, will more than likely do it. In fact, here: DO NOT THINK OF AN ELEPHANT. See? Now you're thinking of elephants. Had nothing been mentioned, nothing would have happened. If I hadn't mentioned an elephant, you probably weren't going to be thinking of elephants. But now, not only do they have an idea of shooting a place up, crazies have a reason to do it. They see how much people are freaking out. They thrive off panic and coverage. YOU (the media) gave them the idea to do this. You put this idea into their head when it wasn't there before. You told or reminded them of the 2012 shooting, you put that into their head. Nobody was thinking about the shooting until you brought it up. Without you, everything probably would have been fine. You're also giving them what they want. For people to be afraid and on edge. Same with the bullshit way news medias still choose to show the names and faces of mass shooters and killers, sometimes even giving them nicknames. You're the ones glorifying the shootings. You're the one giving people ideas, unintentional though it may be. Not the movies, not the video games. You.

If someone has a mental disorder, doesn't that make them mentally ill? Metal illness isn't a bad thing, it doesn't mean the person is less than a person. It is a part of that person, so why are people getting so angry and defensive because someone pointed it out? The only reason someone would be offended because he called a girl mentally ill is if either it was a lie, or if they believed being mentally ill is inherently bad. That makes them the ones with a bad preconceived notion of mental illness. It's like getting offended because someone calls a blonde person blonde... as in it's part of who they are, no reason to get sensitive over it. People need to get over their self righteousness and understand that their feelings don't change the reality of the world.

Joker is left wing antifa recruitment propaganda. They only pretend not to like it so that they can pin the bad parts of them on the right. I don't get how people don't immediately see this.
It's anti gun, pro big government, and clearly anti man. The fantasy they are trying to sell men here, much like when they sold women "hey ditch your man for any reason under the sun and you'll be better because now you're a strong independant woman" is "hey find any reason to embrace any victimhood, blame society, and lash out with violence.. everyone will love you and now you are the hero." This is so perverse, and so sick. This is not right wing. This is garbage left wing antifa level stuff.
The left is what put it out. The left pretends to hate it. Then the right says they like it as a reaction. You fell into the trap! You got baited into pretending to like a movie that is actually anti man, but claims to be pro man.
Maybe take a few steps back and don't play into the game. The current Joker movie is trash. Great performance, but everything behind where they are going with such an incredible performance is absolute trash.

From everything I've heard anybody thinking joker glorifies or is sympathetic to these nutcases is missing the point. It really isnt.
Also shock horror, most terrible people have sympathetic backgrounds. It's their actions and choices after that make them monsters. Being able to understand the origins of such depraved people is not being sympathetic it's the basis of criminal profiling.
Seems some people are have cognitive dissonance trying to reconcile their thought process and emotions on the matter.

How is calling someone mentally ill wrong if it's true? It's not a bad thing. I think the guy demanding the apology should give her one for acting like her illness is something to be ashamed of.

The Joker situation reminds me of the whole video games cause violence thing. I understand the concern. But I personally haven’t heard any evidence to back it up. They have you sympathize with the bad guy in a lot of movies and games. It makes for good content. Maybe we should focus on mental health in our country beyond every time a horrible event happens. The way those who need help with their mental health here are treated makes me sick to my stomach sometimes. But maybe that’s because I have friends and family who are mentally ill who deserve more help than they are getting.

I think we need a statement from Gretta, and in front of her parents and of her own complete accord and views and thoughts, say why she is saying the things she is saying because parents can be very manipulative. If she's anything like me and has spoken her mind and what she thinks freely throughout her entire life and has even had arguments and debates with her parents, then we can trust her. But if she's being fed propaganda and not allowed to come up with her own views and ideas, then someone should investigate her parents. I told my parents to quit smoking when I was extremely young. Of my own accord. Why would my parents teach me to tell them to stop smoking? It wouldn't make sense. I fondly remember it. Now to investigate Gretta a bit more. If she's being manipulated and force fed what she is saying by adults, then those adults should be investigated for child endangerment. It is extremely toxic for children to grow up in an environment where they are politicized and used. Some adults are still living out their lives based on their parents' manipulation. Don't just look at a young person and think, "Awh, they care about something and making the world better." Quesiton if their parents are behind it because they most likely are. A 16 year old having beef with and trolling the US of A President on Twitter? Doesn't seem like a normal 16 year to me. Seems like the parents have some or more or all control over her social media.
But once again, don't forget, Philip just laughs it all off so he doesn't have to question anything and further panders.

  • Jesselyn

Honestly, the issue I see here is that people have too much of a black and white approach to the world when the world is nothing close to that. It is dishonest to suggest that people that commit heinous acts of violence aren't grey as well, and have certain albeit small facets of their personalities that some may sympathise with. Of course, that doesn't mean you should sympathise with their horrible choices with how they choose to cope with their pain, but it doesn't help anyone to pretend that their pain never existed, nor does it help to ignore how this person may have gotten there.
People often separate people from their actions when it comes to committing horrible atrocities, but I always want to maintain that humans and their abhorrent actions are inseparable. To separate them is to allow yourself and others to become sitting ducks for the next person or people that decide to do harm to others. You should not remove the humanity from terrible people, you should recognize that terrible humans are capable of terrible things. They are not some sort of otherworldy organism dropped out of the sky onto the masses in order to inflict harm.
There is also, as the quote in the video stated, no correlation between acts of violence and media consumption. So perhaps instead of drawing the same conclusions as you did with Columbine with Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Goths etc., and finding the path of least resistence, only to find that these issues continue to happen despite misplaced blame, try to find the true root of the issue and recognize the person behind it. You cannot solve the problem if you refuse to even say what it is and recognize that people are just as capable of doing horrible things as they are doing good.

Is it really so hard to believe that a 16 year old is speaking up about climate change because she is genuinely concerned about not only her future but the future of the entire planet? Like how dumb can you be to believe that she's only saying this because her parents or someone else made her do it?

As someone struggling with mental illnesses like Greta's who spent more than half their primary school _literally_ riding the short bus, isolated from fellow classmates, dealing with mostly well meaning but ill equipped educators, it bugs the shit out of me that _acknowledging_ those conditions _as_ illnesses is now considered an attack, as getting good help for them is already hard enough to find. And while I can't say whether she's being exploited, her condition is absolutely being used as a shield against criticism and weapon against critics.
At least the war on drugs is over.

    • Elke Ve

Her ideas, agency and advocacy are being stripped from her because of her disorders. That's ableist. It's assuming that someone who has a mental illness (and I do know some things about that, so I understand why it bugs you) cannot possibly be anything outside of that illness, or that anything one does has to be somehow linked to the disorder. Which is demeaning and belittling.
