thats a shame - i shall have to think of a way to make this happen some day.
ive only recently stumbled upon your channel and ive been spending the last few days slowly catching up on your videos as they are an absolute delight. Its a shame i live in the UK and not anywhere near Tallahassee otherwise i would definitely be a regular visitor to play games.
I do however live close to Brighton which has its own history of sticks of hard image candy with that we call "Rock" which is partly why i stumbled upon your channel in the first place. but thats a story for another time.
so yeah, thank you for your insights into your profession, keep up the good work and ill see if i can reach out and communicate with Mr Wheaton so we can send him some - cos who isnt going to like dice sweets :D

You cannot hold a standard six sided die and see both the 2 and the 5. On a 6 sided die, the opposing faces add up to 7, so 1 is opposite 6, 2 opposite 5, and 3 opposite 4. :(

I just found this channel and it's got some of the most relaxing videos I've ever seen, along with actually teaching me some interesting things!
I'd love to see a D20 design, and I've noticed quite a few comments agree with me. You probably wouldn't even have to do the numbers, just a hint of the shape would be enough that many people would know what it was. It's fine if you don't, I think all of your videos are amazing, but that would be something extra special.

    • Amelia Hammett-Aron

I hate how uneven the candy pieces are. Some of them look too big, and have sharp edges that would hurt my mouth. I do appreciate the design here, much clearer than the cake.

I was just watching the Magnolia candy video from today (15JUN17) and made a comment about the amount of time you have to work with the hot candy. I got a reply that part of the table is warmed and then I saw this video where it's mentioned (though if I have the timeline correct, this is the old location??? I think I remember something about that in a previous video that the store moved across the street). Love watching these videos.

    • Jason Bourne
      Jason Bourne Year ago

well as greg said, white food coloring is made with titanium, because fine titanium "nanopowder" is white in color. fun fact, titanium dioxide is added to skim milk to make it look more like milk.

    • bbycndy
      bbycndy 2 years ago

+Lofty Pursuits whats the diff between the white food color and the red/blue/yellow food color? ☺️

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago

+Lofty Pursuits why does everyone want to use white food coloring? this is a common question. It makes an inferior candy. it seems weird the folks suggest it all the time.

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago

+Lofty Pursuits pulling also makes the candy light and airated and exposes more surface area to allow for better flavor absorption in your mouth.

  • slowill
    slowill 2 years ago

YOU DIDNT MAKE IT RIGHT!! 2 SHOULD BE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF 5! THAT NUMBER SHOULD BE A 4 OR 3 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! jk on the rage but all die sides add up to 7, so the 2 should be behind the 5 on the die. cool stuff either way

I've noticed that about half way through the pulling process the candy gets this really cool iridescent look to it, do you ever do candy where you leave it like that, or does the effect not turn out well once the candy has cooled?

btw, your definition of non-Newtonian fluid is a bit off. Non-newtonian just means it changes viscosity under stress.

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago

Ok, yes. I am talking about sugar here, not sass :)

    • A Highly Sophisticated Gentleman
A Highly Sophisticated Gentleman 2 years ago

+Lofty Pursuits that's only one type of non-newtonian fluid. some lose viscosity in response to stress, and some lose or gain viscosity according to the duration of the stress.

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago

Well, more accuracy it is a flowing solid, that behaves like a solid under stress. And it does behave this way. If we stop rolling it, it will flow flat. If we snap it it will snap, but a slow bend it will bend. That is until it cools all the way.

  • A Highly Sophisticated Gentleman

jesus christ my internet's so slow today, I feel like I'm watching this on a toaster...

why do they use the hook sometimes and then sometimes not...why even have the hook

    • mmmhorsesteaks
      mmmhorsesteaks 2 years ago

The hook is mainly convenient for larger amounts that they want to cool down at the same time. The table is more convenient for some cases because it's heated so the candy doesn't cool down as quickly. As they say themselves: "candymaker's preference". Some cases they may prefer one or the other.
