Tbh... Juke Nismo is not too terrible, if you think about it, 204 horsepowers and all-wheel-drive, it's a 1.6 turbo, not much can be expected but it's a decent nismo model.
Also, Nissan Pulsar Nismo does not exist, by other than as a concept, and it was quite respectable hatchback concept, 310 horsepower 1.8 turbo.
Kind of interesting to see americans talking about the Pulsar only now though, it's production has ended in 2018 already.

I don't get the criticism of the M Performance cars. As you said they are meant to sit between the normal car and the M version and that's exactly what they do.
Also the "Line" in i.e. Mercedes AMG "Line", Audi S "Line" and VW R "Line" mean a certain trim level and not performance upgrades. So you're criticizing trim levels for being trim levels.

Along with most things that hit America, the ST was ruined when it came to that market. SVT and ST should have been kept separate. ST cars were usually pretty special, now the USA apply it to all and sundry and it's shit. It remains to be seen how much they ruin the RS badge.

  • evo emperor

ST really ain't a scam because a ford with one is always faster than the standard one.

Quattro was Audi's original name for there rally car in the 80's. It was named after the 4wd system but it was still named after a race car so he is not technically wrong. The R badges came later on.

In the UK Ford do the ST Line separate from the ST and RS models. So in the UK we don’t have the Edge ST we have the Edge ST Line, and obviously it’s just riced rather than actually faster

  • Lincoln Whitlow

I think Audi actually does 'performance' badges better than most brands. Clear tiers between A>S>RS and S Line to me implies that you get what most people notice from these higher end vehicles, without having to worry about more stringent upkeep

It's not all about power M sport is actually much better to drive the a regular 3 series. I can tell you first hand. I use to own 2 320i one in standard and one with the M sport and it's a huge difference in handling but not in power.

Funny thing is, the edge (fake st) would blow the doors off of a focus st at a traffic light. Using Physics, and common sense no one should expect a cuv to handle like a hot hatch.

The Audi S badge is what started the badge wars. In the early 2000's when BMW had the e46 m3, the b5 s4 was comparable but as soon as BMW released the e92 m3 the s4 was no longer comparable, Audi needed an RS line to compete. A 335i (which is badge-less) is the direct competitor to the B8 s4/s5 while the M3 e90/e92 is the direct competitor to the RS4/RS5. Now cuz of this bullshit you have Mercedes putting AMG badges non hand built engines like the c43 trying to fit in that market of badging, can't even call that an AMG anymore.
