It's about time to show an update with the Savard HiQ 8 v2 DVC subwoofers. This sub offers dual 2 ohm 2.5" coils and 500 watts of RMS power handling. It appears to be a mini monster, but how does it sound? Let's take a closer look at the custom, slot ported box and try out these subs with some real power.

So what was your opinion? For the money would you be better off to run a pair of tens or these 4- 8s?

Hey there Williston Audio Labs, I love the channel!! I also have a Toyota Sequoia, I was wondering where you found room to place your amps? Planning my system and that's the one thing I can't figure out. Not enough room under any seats for what I've got. Also cold you dyno an MB Quart DSC450? I have one for my mids and highs and am curious as to it's true output power. Thanks Sir!!

Great subs for the price. Very similar to Massive Audio’s Sumo’s.

If you have the clearance flip the box with port up subs back. You should gain some good spl and keep same frequency response with ports that long. Even if the subs are 1" from back wall.

I would think that the SPL might be a bit higher if the box port had more room to breathe. Curious if you turned the box around and lowered the rear seats, the results may be different. Still not bad at all for 8” subs though.

    • Matt Mahoney
      Matt Mahoney 3 months ago

These were small subs, but very fast and in that box, oh yeah! I expect that bass to be quick and responsive. Pretty loud for 8s. They are not usually loud. How about four 10s and same brand? I like that box build! Very nice work. Might improve with some Lizard skin treatment, two coats on the inside for dampening and one coat on the outside. Just a suggestion! 😁💖

Ive been checkin out your vids, they are cool. Idea: test some of the old skool subwoofing using 6×9s, but with new tech 6x9s , enclosures and amps. (Back in the day before xcroosovers were cheap and more available, even before amps. Power boosters and power eq's ruled , basically setting all the bands all the way down except for the last 2 or3 bands for bass., it worked...kind

Savard is trying to make a comeback after their tax evasion days when the current owner's father ran the show. I'm glad they're coming back again, they had some dope great back in the '90s.

Hi ,also is there a website I might be missing so that I might want to order a box to be made and delivered. I like the work done there and I'm sure others do to, so a few might want something built for them. I see there is information on camera and microphone equipment but I just don't see a website for the box, maybe I'm missing something if not see if the guys who made the box have a site to be posted, thx.

I'm too much of a hoarder to sell anything, I've got enough equipment for five (5) full installs with equipment to spare. If I had two more HUs, I'd have enough equipment for seven full installs, but after that, I'd be out of 4-channel amps and low on speakers. Guess I only have three (3) sound processors, unless one counts the 80PRS as a capable enough HU.
Can't say I've heard of that brand before. Is it fairly old, pretty new, or just a special nitch small company brand, kinda like Stereo Integrity?

Yo brother Dwiz , love your vids man . I was too young to drive during the 90s but my brother always had a system and since then I've been an audiophile. Now I have my own install / set up in my 2011 expedition and i help all my friends and clients with theirs . I was recently gifted 2 old school MTX blue thunder 10s not in terrible condition at all, have you ran across any of these during your audio career?
