I saw the film for the first time in 2003, and thought that it was nothing but a bunch of teenagers screaming the entire time. So glad that I'm not the only one who though it was boring!

They walked 15 hours? In that forest near Burkittsville Maryland? Has anyone looked at that on google maps? The woods there grow on the stretched hills/mountains and are about 500 Meters wide. If you go down the hill 250 meters you get out of them easily and would probably stand on some farmers field then...So i guess there must have been some strange magic involved, preventing them from doing so...or they are the greatest Idiots imaginable.

a girl in my class was so convinced that this movie was both real and "terrifying" that she didn't believe what anyone said whilst they pointed out how the actors were in films after this premiered that she started writing what she called a "article" about how it was real and needs to be more looked into and how it isn't a bunch of sloppy camera shots, off camera implication and over acting with weird face angles mashed into a vhs tape you'd find at the discount section at blockbusters (which she did) "Well it shows them finding stuff that had been there a while and said that they found the camera under the floorboards and made the footage into a movie. the witch didn't kill the other people because she wanted her story out or something and you cant change my mind about it being a true story cus no way that was acting she was legit crying and that cabin had been untouched" ok sis.

My boyfriend thought the movie was real and I just have one question for him. If the movie is real how did the footage get out to the public? Did the Blair witch mail it to somebody? Because if nobody who went into the woods came out alive nobody would have been able to go into the woods find the video camera and come back out

Sooo... I saw this at the drive in, double feature with "The Haunting" (yes, it was in the car in my profile photo). While this movie was tense. It wasn't that scary for me... though I will admit during "The Haunting" I did throw the popcorn all over the dang car when that skeleton popped up from the fireplace... didn't see that coming! (20 years later and I still occasionally find a piece of popcorn in the car when cleaning it!)

I love how furiously all its fans defend this movie just because they saw it in high school back in 1999 or their older brother or sister showed it to them when they were 12 or something and they were convinced it was real, and refuse to admit the best thing about the film is it’s marketing and that the gimmick just has no weight 20 years later. We get it, it was groundbreaking for the time, and we also get it, these were film students who had no budget (and probably no script..), this wasn’t some Hollywood blockbuster and yet it became super successful. Cool. The movie is interesting to talk about, I’ll give you that. But it’s literally 90 minutes of “friends” screaming at each other because of miscommunication and no one can find the map, and the most iconic thing about the movie besides it’s marketing is a scene where a girl snots into the camera. Oh and apparently all this “Blair witch” can do is make stick figures, and if you hear a sound in the middle of the woods, automatically assume it’s a witch and, you know, not a bear, or a wolf, or a coyote, or a goddamn squirrel.

Blair Witch Project: Some douchebags with little sense of self-preservation wandering around in the woods for a bit, yell about a map, yell each others names a bunch of times, then get killed by a witch we never see. Rose colored glasses have most people praising it despite nothing interesting actually happening, and the only reason people went crazy about it was because they were dumb enough to think it was real. It also effectively coined the term "found footage", a.k.a "movies that get heaps of praise despite being horribly boring just because they have the found footage moniker". This is basically all the Blair Witch Project is.
