Hold on, if we were to introduce phages, like that to every human being, which evolve a million times faster than humans, couldn't it attack our cells over time because there are so many cells and resources for them? I know they are not retrovirus but still, does that matter?

What's the danger is in it? If bacteria becomes immune to phases, antibiotics can kill it as it's immunity to antibiotics decreases and why is kept experimental till now? By the way excellent animations and explanation and when I stream your videos I do not regret to be a science lover

Isn't it amazing that in about 500 years, humans have 'evolved' from believing that smells are responsible for diseases to use viruses for killing bacteria.

  • Strangleyourfriend

TBH the part that bacteria have to give up their resistance to antibiotics to gain immunity to phages and vice versa sounds too good to be true. Like it can't be that sweet deal, can it?

  • Andrey Wie

Evolution can do anything. What if bacteria invent a way to resist both? Or phages realise they're being exploited and that they can exploit us in return?

Also imagine if we one day could program the Bacteriophages to target Humans.. That would be interesting.. We could Tackle the Overpopulation problem.. But ofc that's just my imagination ..not gonna do it in real life 😅😅

  • Javier Perez

I understand that phages are selective in their process of identifying and destroying a bacteria. Now I ask, is there any way that these phages could be engineered to recognize and attack human cells? For example, the HIV virus (wich is a retrovirus but essentially works in a very similar way) has T CD4+ Lymphocites as their target, and the final result is what we know as AIDS. My question is as fallows. Is there any way that these bacteriophages could be used to target specific human cells? This implies that ir could be used also as a Cancer therapy or as a biological weapon. Thanks for the great videos and excellent content
