Ares being alive was fine, however, they should’ve just made him the god of war. Ares is the god of war. You shouldn’t change that fact. Also, Steve could’ve lived he should’ve just jumped out of the plane and let it explode as it hit he ground I feel like he didn’t have to die. I know everyone loves this movie but I thought it was just good, I used to like DC more than Marvel and don’t get me wrong I still like DC, but Wonder Woman doesn’t come close to the best Marvel moves. There were just a bunch of things that bothered me about it aside from those bigger things I mentioned. Also this is months late I realize but I just watched it and had to get my opinion in

Late to the party but this movie felt super cliche to me. The whole evil-is-more-complex-than-you-think idea is neat but they really beat you over the head with it by the end. Also the CGI was really bad

It was kinda easy to "kill" Ares because he didn't actually died, in the comic book Diana defeated him a lot a times, and he returns everytime takes various forms and fool her. So I think he isn't dead and will return, maybe on WWII perhaps ...

I didn't like Wonder Woman being right about humans being bad just because they were under Ares' influence (that's why the Germans were all happy and huggy at the end, if I understood correctly). How then do we explain WWII and other bad stuff people do? Ares just kept coming back?

Honestly the devil/satan comparisons fits way better to Ares than Hades. Ares was a warmonger even amongst the gods whereas Hades was well respected and viewed as fair and just by both gods and mortals. Hades was the god of the dead but he didnt punish the dead for their mortal deeds. And the underworld wasnt hell it was simply the place where the dead passed.

Its funny how you explained the DC films because I agree 100%. I think DC did the team ups first, to make ppl yearn for solo films. In terms, it adds replay value to the films from the beginning.

I also have to say it gave me a similar vibe that Captain America first avenger did. Obviously cause it takes place during a world war. Overall I agree it's the best of the DCU so far. I hope they make a good Flash movie

Has anybody ever consider the fact that Marvel villians are underdeveloped on purpose, so that when the heroes see Thanos, they would go.... FUCK???? Maybe it's for contrast. Think about it. EVERY villian in Marvel movies has been kind of underdeveloped. The company that actually listens to fans, would not, for so long make a strong villian. I think it is because they want to present Thanos as the top Evil in there, and when you see him, you should not be thinking about any other from previous movies.

Was nobody bothered by Travor? Like I FUCKING love Chris Pine in basicly everything he is in.
No, I mean his interaction with Diana. She believes that killing Ares will stop the war and even though Travor might have some interest in her, doesn't he get to a point he's thinking: hmmm maybe I should try to convice her that what i believe is a lot more likely to be the truth....
idk i just felt he wanted to tell her, but then he saw her kicking ass and didn't want her to leave because she is the biggest hope for stopping the war.
Hopefully someone get's where I'm trying to get at and tells me, with some arguments, why he didn't try harder to make her see the world as it is. I felt he was acting pretty selfish.

I know I'm in the minority; but, I didn't like the movie. Ares killed every single other God. The guy was straight Magneto out there, mixed with the Hulk. There is no way, over the course of a 10 minute fight, does she kill the God of WAR. The God who literally came into existence to create havoc, chaos, and destruction.

I'm disappointed with you. You lied to me. This wasn't a good movie... So... many... plot... holes... so... many ... illogical things... This was basically Captain America: The first Avenger with even a worse story... Even her mother seem to hate humans, it was really hard to believe that she would stand with humanity.
So many things that made no sense in this movie... say whatever about Men of Steel, but at least the story made sense - it wasn't what we wanted, but the story made sense. And Men of Steel also had a female character that kicked ass.
I think I've heard Wonder Woman say smarter things in the cartoons than I heard her say in this movie.

Personally I feel that Diana would have been a stronger character and I would have appreciate her relationship to Steve without the implied sex scene in the middle. It would have built so much more on their relationship to each other if the writers didnt feel the need to make it sexual.

I think Wonder Woman is good but a little overrated. I like the action scenes a lot and the slow-mo didn't bother me like it did others, I like the humour a lot too, it feels very organic. The film seems to have taken from Thor with regards to the fish out of water humour, since Thor was clueless when he came to Earth about how it works, and Diana was clueless when she left Themyscira. I love the relationship between Diana and Steve, the way Diana is so noble, headstrong and naive contrasts well with Steve, who is noble too, but down to Earth, pragmatic and a bit unassuming. Both characters were endearing, although especially Steve and I did care when he died.
However, like many have said, the villains in this film are underutilised when it comes to character development, they provide nothing more than tools to make the hero grow, just like Marvel movies, hence why Ares is killed off at the end, and Dr. Poison will likely never be seen again (which makes sense since this film takes place many decades in the past). However, even most Marvel movies have villains better developed than this, a bit more definitely could've been done there. The third act of this film takes a big step down in quality for me, the action taking place feels messy and not really cohesive, as well as a little too bombastic compared to the first two acts. I didn't find the action all that good in it either compared to in the first two acts.
The film is the best in the DCEU but not by a country mile for me, I like Man of Steel, it's good and this is a bit better, I'd say considerably so but not massively. It's clear this film takes a lot from Captain America: The First Avenger - It has a World War setting, the hero fights with a group of soldiers throughout the film, there's a mystical threat that has to be defeated, there's chemistry between two main characters and one of them sacrifices their self in a plane for the greater good etc. I'd say Wonder Woman is a bit better than Cap 1, Wonder Woman has better action, a better brewing romance, and probably better humour too, but Cap 1 has a better villain and is more consistent in quality due to Wonder Woman's downturn in the third act.

  • MadBunnyRabbit
    MadBunnyRabbit Year ago

I didn't like the ending. The nazi breath pill was pointless. And when he started snorting it I knew he was not Ares. Which would've been more interesting. Let him, with the pill, make it hard for Diana to win. Then Steven dies, she explodes again and kills the dude, but the fight is not over. Maybe the explosion would be so great that Ares actually just now notices her and shows up. They talk, have an exchange but Diana is just tiny bit too week to decisevly win and then Ares escapes. Sequel - Themyscira is fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. But nope. They had to do the shitty fight at the end DC loves so much. Oh well, it was still better then anything else they made.

Wonder Woman was a good movie, but it was close to Captain America. Almost the same premise. Captain America had a group and made them his team with his friend, Wonder Woman gets a group and make them her team. The difference is that the man made the team and put Wonder Woman in the mix.

Woman Woman was kickass! Seeing a 'good' Justice League move I have to admit was surprising. But maybe it helps going into the movie worried how Justice League is going to ruin this next one. Makes the movie all the better because you're starting at a low standard. XD
Jeremy's right, though.....the villains were weak. I couldn't understand why the porcelain woman was in it. You could have combined the general and her and maybe had a better villain. But I guess that wanted someone to be tossed to wonder woman. No clue......

SHe didn't learn what she could do untill she was pushed and steve's death really pushed her.

So at the end when Wonder Woman shoots the mega lightning bolt I interpreted that as more because of her armor. Either way she looked surprised herself when instead of hurting her it fueled her

David Thewlis is a bad choice for Ares, he looks like a fucking dork in the armor and when we see him with the CGI body. Even just shaving the mustache would go a long way, he just looked ridiculous in that flashback scene. There's something to be said for the misdirection of casting someone that doesn't look like the character they secretly are, but they can't look down right humorous when we find out who they actually are.
