    Never seen Donald Trump laugh.
There is something mentally wrong with him.
Reference a video. He doesn't ever laugh. He's peculiarly strange: only hate speech, insults and goofy expressions. No laughs.

Let's shame the 22 year old who slept with an older man who was also her boss instead of shaming the married father who used his position of authority to sleep with his very young employee with total disregard to his family or the fact that his job should have made him a role model for millions of children and young people. Sounds about right.

It seems to be that people who do the most ludicrous and trivial things get blown up the most. Jussie, Monica, Full House lady. I think these people get memed into isolation and hell is because it's easy. These people didn't really hurt anyone or anything, but it's just so infectiously stupid. We don't shame bankers, Federal Reserve Chairmen, war profiteers, healthcare executives and other quiet forces that actually negatively impact our lives. I'm not advocating for shaming, but maybe next time you guys feel like cleverly shaming someone on the internet, find the CEO of Ratheon and practice your material.

This is one of a few recent pieces I've seen lately that asserts "hey, maybe we were kind of assholes to Monica Lewinsky in the 90s, we should probably be sorry about that" and I'm loving the trend. When I was younger, I never understood why the scandal was such a big deal. As I got older, I still always felt like it shouldn't have been the story it was - why did we impeach a president because of a sexual scandal that ought to have had no bearing on politics or running the nation? I'm really appreciating how in this decade, people are owning the fact that it SHOULDN'T have been the big deal that it was.

Lewinsky should not have been shamed at all. This tabloid journalism, digging into the privacy of people should be outlawed. No one should be pestered like that and if there is actual concern for safety, inform the authorities. What happened to her was pure and blatant sexism. Had she been a man banging a female president, she’d be a masculine idol right now.

I think it might help to know that, as a 21 year old, when I hear the name Monica Lewinsky, I think of a person who is helping to fight bullying and not of what the media made her look like when I was just born. And I think that for more and more people from my and younger generations it will be like that.

  • SsnakeBite
    SsnakeBite 13 hours ago

I think a lot of people don't realize that there is a difference between calling someone out and public shaming. I really don't think public shaming accomplishes anything positive, as it's basically just going "Hey! This person is an asshole! Man, we're so much better than them by default!". And let's not kid ourselves, there are many people out there, ESPECIALLY the people who are quickest to shame others, are just looking for an excuse to hurt and destroy others, and those will latch on to any public shaming and never let go, even if the person is shown to have changed their ways or Hell, even if it turns out the accusations against that person were unfair, if not entirely false, which as this video shows, is very often the case, especially when the finger-wagging moral guardians in question have an agenda.
Public shaming enables these sick, perverted individuals and promotes harassment. They'll even start harassing family members, friends, or just random unrelated people whose name or Twitter handle is spelt similarly. Oh and, ironically, when called out on it, public shamers will never EVER recognize their own faults. People should call others out for the awful shit they've done, they should ask for reparation, but they should also actively fight harassment. Just because someone has wronged you or someone you know doesn't give you a right of life and death over them. And most people engaging in public shaming are infinitely worse than the people being shamed.

At the time about all the fuss I recall I was not so upset that she was involved with a married man but that HE made the USA subject to a potential Employment SEXUAL harassment lawsuit that definitely would have been worth millions as it destroyed her then potential future employment and "pursuit of happiness" opportunities. It does show a lot of class and character that she did not file employment lawsuit against the USA or go into the porn industry to enrich herself as many others in her "position "(not an intentional pun ... butt funny'ish?) might have done. I've always considered Monica Lewinsky showed a lot of restraint (??) class and respect in not going on the offensive.
Best wishes Monica toward your future happiness.

  • Kissed By Firewyrms
Kissed By Firewyrms 13 hours ago

One piece that is missing from LWT’s piece was how Monica was thrown under the bus by Republicans trying to take down a presidency. There have been books written about it, and documentaries like “The Hunting of the President “. Republicans impeached the President for a dumb reason (compared to our now President who has apparently engaged in actual high crimes) and then grilled Lewinsky over very personal details like she was a modern day Hester Prynne. They had people hired to keep her name in the news. Hell, look at Linda Tripp ( #worstfriendever), who profited from taping her private conversations and turning her in.
People like Jay Leno profited from cheap jokes about her, but the Republicans purposely continued to throw gasoline on the fire. They publicly dragged Anita Hill for political purposes, as well (and sone Democrats like Joe Biden piled on, too), and tried to do the same in the Kavanaugh hearings. So while there can be pile on’s of public shaming and shit posting about people like never before, never underestimate the ability of politicians to shame someone for political gain, especially when it involves sexuality in any way, and when it involves a woman who can be scorned and branded with an “A”.

The public shaming that I think needs correcting as well is “people who said stupid things a long time ago and have vehemently apologized for them.” Most notably James Gunn losing his job at Disney and then (rightly) getting it back. You shouldnt just go through somebody’s tweets or comments from years ago just to try and destroy them for it. Happens with a lot of people, Gunn’s was the most famous because of how controversial Disney’s handling of it was

It's funny how Monica is the victim even though the real victims are Hilary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton. Monica committed adultery with the most powerful person in the world. Adultery, On a global scale. She was definitely young and not fully aware of the scope of her actions and had she had an affair with Chris down the street and got found out, her public shaming would definitely be less. Thank God we don't live in biblical times where she would get publicly stoned to death. Should only those that have not sinned cast the 1st stone in her direction, absolutely. But that's not the reality we live in. Also, not casting a stone is supposed to be for those truly remorseful and sorry. Is she really sorry, or just sorry she got caught. Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky both participated in a heinous act against a marriage and a family. We don't hear those victims. Those victims didn't try to capitalize on a book after the fact, like Monica. You would think that after all the shaming Monica would start speaking out about marriage fidelity and how not to be the other woman instead of only anti-bullying. It's great that she's helping children or adults strive against bullying but is she doing it from the idea that "when you do something wrong and even terrible or heinous, no matter how bad; you're special and don't deserve the shame of society and you're a victim of your own actions" is that the bullshit that she's trying to put out there. Why doesn't she speak out more against marital infidelity instead of bullying. The bullying that makes it seem like she didn't do anything wrong and is a victim like most people who did nothing wrong. Kinda bad that she's lumping herself in with people that are bullied. Usually people are bullied because of something out of their control. If Bill Clinton was on here talking about how terribly he has been bullied, I would show him no sympathy either. As a matter of fact I think the shaming of Monica has gone down over the years. But here she's drawing attention to herself again, but as a victim. In this very video they said someone didn't even know who she was anymore. She's pretty much forgotten, but instead of saying I'm the woman that shamefully participated in adultery with one of the presidents of the United States... Or better yet, don't say anything at all. She instead says, I'm the woman mentioned in 100+ rap songs. Like some kind of half-ass brag. What egotistic person actually thinks to look that up?! "Hmm let me Google my name and see how many songs, I've been named in". She's on some other level of wanting and enjoying to be seen and that whole "wanting" is probably why she is where she is. The need to be seen and get attention no matter where it comes from. Does that still make her a victim, no.
