jeremy comments how smart fury is for asking to "just take her word on that" and they cut it.
In preparation for the coming Captain Marvel movie, I’m just going to leave this here:BANNER Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy. I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction. NICK FURY Because of him. (pointing at Thor) THOR (STUNNED) Me? NICK FURY Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned. THOR My people want nothing but peace with your planet. NICK FURY But you're not the only people out there, are you? And, you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled. STEVE Like you controlled the cube? THOR You're work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war. STEVE A higher form? NICK FURY You forced our hand. We had to come up with something.-The Avengers (2012)
Looks like an expensive CW Episode
Brie Larson has expressed her disdain for white males numerous times. So, this white male will spend his $ elsewhere. Hard pass on this feminazi propaganda film.
It's pretty trivial man. I don't know, that's just me. lol
In Captain America: The First Avenger, his girl Peggy Carter is the one who is established in the MCU as having created SHIELD in the post war 50s as a reflection on the OSR, and the need to fight Hydra from that age forward.
Billy Batson looks weird with long blond hair.
all that matters is avengers end gameafter that i can be done with these adult cartoon stories, she, and anything else in between can jump off a bridge and die
It pissed me off too!! You can’t just disregard that part of iron man, although I still believe iron man 1 was the best movie so I may be biased.
This character in the past 10 years has had 7 solo comic series cancelled and each has only lasted a few issues if that doesn't tell you people liked her more as Ms. Marvel and don't give a damn about her as captain marvel I don't know what honestly will
My question is that all the while our favourite avengers were busy getting their butts handed to them by Thanos what was Captain “smarty pants” Marvel doing, exactly? 🤔
1:44 dude it was in the Carter short, chill.
I wonder if Jeremy reads these comments on a regular basis?Hey, Jeremy. Please review Dragonball Super: Broly. If Captain Marvel proves to be a big disappointment, this one won't. Please. Watch and review. Right now.Make DB Super: Broly the next one on your list to view.
Coulson was definitely just screwing with Tony Stark, I thought that was pretty obvious lol. Hell, they probably started with wanting to name the organization SHIELD, then figured out what it should stand for afterwards.
Always been Shield!!!
Agent Carter was so boring and crap that Season 1 and 2 were just confusing. I was confused how Agent Carter was in NYC in season 1 and Season 2 she ended up traveling to Los Angeles.
Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division“Do you know what that means?”“I think it means someone really wanted our initials to spell out SHIELD.”
It’s not as good as Justice League and Wonder Woman trailer that you can watch 100 times
This movie is getting so much hate in these comments and it hasn’t even come out yet. People should wait to see reviews before deciding if they are gonna see it or not. Trailers don’t always indicate how a movie is actually going to be.
Same face every scene.
I'm not sure what i think of this movie
This movie will be fine.
Coulson might have just been joking or some shit in Iron Man. Not a question that needs to be asked. Not an important continuity error.
Yeah the main thing was finding at least one joke for Captain Bland to say.
Bro the whole shield thing I was thinking about too!
When tony stark opens that box in iron man 2 there is file of his father and it is named S. H. I. E. L. D. it doesent matter what coulson called it it is called shield in agent carter tv show that came 70 years before avengers or iron man 1.....
Yess it was called shield in the comics in the “80-90s”
That was retconned. Howard Stark called it Shield in the Agent Carter one shot.
I think the trailer is cool! ... I like #2 the best.Hard to believe the flick is less than two months away! .. That, and A-4 are finally upon us.
What the hell happen to your video
Logan: I’m the real one.Cyclops: Prove it!Logan: You’re a d1ckCyclops: Good enough for me
Wasn’t the shield logo on the wall at the secret base in winter soldier? (where they met the digitized Zola) I’m pretty sure that was Howard era SHIELD.
Jeremy, think about it, do you REALLY think they just HAPPENED to come up with 6 words to describe their division and those words just HAPPENED to spell out S.H.I.E.L.D., and they just HAPPENED to realize that multiple decades after they came up with the name? Come on dude, you're smarter than that. It's quite obvious that they chose specific words SO THAT it would spell S.H.I.E.L.D. It was no coincidence.
I can DEFINITELY see colsen doing that
Jeremy sometimes you seem soo dumb. Whats the problem of it already being S.H.I.E.L.D. in the past? No other movie ever denied this. Gosh, it could go back to Father Stark days...
There's even a Winter Soldier retcon: after his "death" a photo with a clearly older than Captain Marvel's Nick Fury is shown by Robert Redford to Cap and Nick had both eyes. But they said that Captain Marvel will show how he lost his eye.
Yes it was called shield before
First retcon/plothole to show up in a trailer but in reality the MCU has a bunch of them. They're not super common because the MCU is pretty diligent about keeping an eye out and usually they get missed for all of the fun the movies are but they're there.
I'm sure you're aware but damn that's a nice jacket
First off I think a lot of people do not know what a retcon is. I would hardly call giving an abbreviation to a long winded name a retcon. Second if anyone really thinks this is a continuity issue then the whole next movie in and of itself is just one giant retcon. you have this god like being in the pocket of shield the whole time....yet no mention of them when you know, the entire earth was being invaded by an alien race. I would think that would be the time to pull out "the big guns."
We love ya Jeremy. xD
what u said in the coulson scene was your answer they have a name but they only tell people who are "joining" shield the real name cause when they same it as strategic etc. people dont remember or care so if they only need to work with u but dont need you knowing sheild they give you the name you wont remember. so when you said tony is just not cool enough you were right
Only going to see it because of Endgame. Sorry not sorry
I feel like no one is exited for this movie and allot of people are putting it down but I honestly can’t wait
Back in the Day Everybody wanted to be a Popstar, Now Every Bitch wants to be a Fucking SuperheroHold Up ! They Retconning this Shit and putting this Btich (nothing against the actress I like her, just not her Stupid Superhero counterpart) as the Founder that assembled the Avengers and putting Tony Stark on the Backburner ? Disney don't Fuck this Up ! Don't Fuck this up ! I see where you're getting at you got 3 Strikes, Star Wars is one of them don't let Marvel be your next one!
Great video man.!!!
They retconned the SHIELD thing on Agents of SHIELD.
Buddy , this is like 1,000 time line mistake founding the mcu
I get this video is all in fun. But wouldn't he have made this video at the beginning of the first Ant-Man movie when S.H.I.E.L.D was created and called S.H.I.E.L.D?
Still looks Mediocre to me, let's face it Marvel doesn't have good female superheroes 🤔
She Hulk, Black Widow, Storm, Rogue, Gamora, Mantis, Spider-Gwen, Invisible Woman, Maria Hill, Madame Web, Black Cat, X-23, and Scarlet Witch to name a few
This film feels like it's gonna be the Solo: A Star Wars Story of the marvel universe, which is still props to marvel for keeping me interested this long, but this is gonna be the first film that I'm not gonna see in cinema's
If it's sweet then it's not bad
it's an MCU movie... it will have jokes... also... coulson was just messing with tony... hehehe
Captain Marvel is not more powerful than Thor and never been.
One thing that bothers me a bit about the newest trailer is the scene where she blasts that jukebox. Was that really the best way to showcase that power, by destroying someones Jukebox. I hope they at least pay for it afterwards or else it is a dick move.
Shield as shit.
I'm going to Chalk the Shield Name inception up to Early Installment Weirdness. You said yourself they always retroactively called it SHIELD in Flashbacks. Plus there's a lot of things from Phase 1 that we chose to forget, like, Jane Foster and crew, Tony's Chest Magnet, The fact that Captain America's first Post Credit Scene is a dated early trailer for the Original Avengers Movie, and You know the whole of the Increadible Hulk aside from General Ross,
The entire video is a joke.
I think Coulson didn't want to reveal too much about SHIELD to Tony and Pepper at first so he purposely said the long version to annoy them fancy people so they won't bother to actually remember it and look it up.
Don’t really care about this movie.
The acronym originally stood for Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage and Law-Enforcement Division. It was changed in 1991 to Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate. Within the various films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as multiple animated and live-action television series, the acronym stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
Didn't Ant-Man tell us that they were "SHIELD" back in the 80s?
I’ve just done some research Jeremy. The first scene in Ant-Man with Hank Pym, Howard Stark and Peggy Carter was taken place in 1989 and Captain Marvel will be taken place in 1995. In Ant-Man we do see the outside of S.H.I.E.L.D H.Q was bring built but I am still capable of having people work there. So around that time S.H.I.E.L.D would have been around just not as big as it was in when The Avengers fought Loki.
It’s okay, Jeremy, that potential Retron drives me nuts too. I’m starting to veer away from trailer watching at this point. Either I don’t care or I don’t want to know too much. I’m not sure yet.
Not going to do it
Dude you should have millions of views for real
marvel be like ' at this point, why even bother with the original material .....'
"Well you're just not cool enough to know that we've been calling it S.H.I.E.L.D. for decades. You've gotta EARN that shit." Jeremy, even if you didn't say ANYTHING else for the rest of the video, THAT comment ALONE made this worth my while! Thank you for the best laugh I have had in DAYS!!
Peggy Carter came up with the initials as a way to honor Cap. Honestly, Jahns, do you not do any research?
The anagram for Shield couldn't be random/coincidence. It had to be intentional. My thought was in Iron Man, Shield was a very new organization and so while the anagram was there, they weren't settled on it. So some folks like Coulson tried to be incredibly formal and then he just gave up.Then with the further expansion, there is no way nobody was calling it Shield already. FBI/CIA/ATF, those are all letter combinations that mean nothing before those agencies were created. But something like D.A.R.E are very intentional.
They can make all the trailers they want and nothing can save this shit, the only way to save it is to recast the leading role, find new director and screenwriter and reshoot the whole god damn movie
I wonder if they will ever disband S.H.I.E.L.D. and create S.W.O.R.D. or H.A.M.M.E.R. in the movies like they did in the comic's.
I won’t be seeing this movie because I’m a white male over 40 and Brie Larson doesn’t like us.
It was already called shield but shield has always been an acronym
S.H.I.E.L.D. is simply short for The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. It was never changed to Shield after Ironman 1.
The answer is obvious. All this is due to Disney shoehorning her in to hopefully soak up some of the success and recognition that Avengers has generated. Don't kid yourselves fanboys, she's a C list character. Disney are desperate for a new cash cow now that so many of the original cast are out of contract and have no interest in renewing them. Disney have backed the wrong horse with Captain Mary Sue. MCU is entering its twilight, mark my words.
According to every portrayal of Coulson, yes.Yes, he is fucking with Stark because he thinks the man is a rich asshole.
in the timeline SHIELD was formed back in the late 40s after WW2. I dont understand your confusion. That scene in IronMan1 he ( Coulson) simply states the name to Pepper,..he doesnt claim that its some newly formed secret gov espionage organization LoL!
I think Phil was just fucking with Tony. Not only does that make it amusing, it also makes it make sense.
Trying to be a smartass, but ended up asking dumbass questions smh. Also, Jeremy get your hands checked. You're having a seizure.
This video was great as always and so true about the name Shield. I want to say thank you so much Jeremy for all your awesome videos and for inspiration to start a TVclip channel of my own I can’t thank you enough keep it up man!!!
Your just overthinking
margaret carter was one of the founder of shield. wich makes it a early post war organisation.
Honestly I think the trailers for Cpt. M have been shit! By shit I mean they just have not upped my anticipation for the film. I couldn't care less about the movie at this point and have no plans on seeing it in theaters. Her shooting the Juke box was fucking dumb as fuck! She's an intergalactic super bad ass but she couldn't come up with a more intelligent way to convince Fury of who she is? Lame.
Sorry, she is terrible. Will skip this.
I'm confused by your confusion
They could've just had that shot about the SHIELD logo for the trailer, they've been doing that for a while now
0:40 I thought that whole thing about the name in Iron Man was just a gag from Agent Coulson. Didn't it already abbreviate to SHIELD? Why wouldn't they have abbreviated it after all those years of it being an agency.
2:57 When you see it side by side, you REALLY see the difference between face acting, and ... not.
Yeah, there's a long list of continuity problems with the MCU. lol! Maybe they were hoping we'd all just forget the little details. ;-)
Sigh.... Jeremy what S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for, the Acronym has changed over time in the comics. Thats the inside joke in the Pilot for the shield TV series when they ask (whatever his name was) what does that Acronym mean to you and he says "I think it means someone really wanted our initials to spell out the word Shield".If you're fanboyish enough to knitpick the inconsistencies you should be fanboyish enough to be in on the joke. :-)
Captain Marvel Post Credits: Carole gets the page from Fury. Then she turns to ash. You heard it here first.
Shield has been around since the 1940s I think.
I always just assumed Coulson was screwing with Tony Stark about the name. I mean, as Grant Ward points out in Agents of SHIELD. The name "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division" really just means "Somebody really wanted our initials to spell out SHIELD."
Thor took a dying star and at least in the movies has a axe that can over power the infinity gauntlet I still call bs on that but still
S.H.I.E.L.D. has been going by S.H.I.E.L.D. since the 1940s. At least according to the Agent Carter One-Shot anyway.
Jeremy, watch the post credit scene of Iron Man with Nick Fury saying he was director of Shield. Way back in the first film. Do your homework before you nitpick then issue another video rebuttal like you did with Thanos and the scarecrow.
Jeremy, you DO realize that S.H.I.E.L.D. is literally just an acronym for what Colson said in Iron Man right?
I'm just terrified they'll make her out to be The Savior in end game and minimize the roles of the original Avengers team.
