I read that car manufactures actually designed vehicle to break down enough in a 10 yr period because they want you to buy a new one ( now this was quite a few yrs ago ) probably designed to break down sooner now from the amount of complaints you see on line . Looked at GM own Consumer Affairs comment report section about their GM products , the 1,2 ,3 star given about their product was way more the 4,and 5 stars . NOT GOOD !

Do yourself a favor, buy a veteran. the ''best'' car isn't always the best. And ''best'' can be many different things. New cars have best performace, but they break down like never experienced before. Old cars have less performance but will outlive the owner 5 times over if you treat her right.

I disagree. There are some great paste waxes out there (Meguiars Ultimate). And as far as spray on waxes are concerned, theyll never be as good as a good solid wax or a paste wax, but Meguiars Xpress Syntethic Spray Wax is hard to beat in terms of spray on waxes, especially if preceded by a good sealant and a good paste wax. Use it once a week or biweekly and It will extend the life of the sealant / wax combo considerably.

Almost no one wants a Toyota Yaris. I have a 2008 model with 137,000 miles. I replaced (other than tires, wiper blades) a ten year old battery, headlight and tail light bulbs. My brake pads are original and still
good. It has been a fantastic car for me that gets 37mpg. I barely go into an auto parts store.

Scotty! What's the deal with VW? My wife has a 2014 Jetta TDI. She broke 2 coil springs already, the stupid bolts have hex connectors at the ends instead of conventional nuts and bolts with heads, and don't get me started on the DPF on that thing. I wish she took the money and ran during the recall.

Sorry, but I must disagree on this video. My newer cars have lasted longer than my older cars and I'm driving my newer cars even more. My newer cars require less maintenance than my older cars. My 2009 Cobalt has almost 300,000 miles with no leaks and no smoking it was normal wear and tear it still running great. My 87 Chevy required an engine rebuild before 150,000 and I drive my Cobalt more harder and more often than I did my 87 Chevy. As for resale value, Chevy always done me excellent.

I'm an auto detailer, and I agree that paste wax is better in the long run and does a nice job. On the other hand, if you need a quick touch up after a wash, the spray on waxes are good for that, as they are quick to apply.

Chinese cars will be cheap because they don't go through the trouble of designing them. They are "pros" at doing 'knock-offs' though. BTW, China doesn't abide by international patent laws, so that's why.

While I agree that they are building cars cheaper, I do have to mention that concerns over emmisions are out weighing reliability. Manufacturers are producing cars that are fuel efficient but are complicated and expensive to repair causing these cars to end up in the scrap heap prematurely, which leads me to ask if that is really the most environmentally friendly outcome? The EPA never seems to take into account the emmisions of producing new vehicles.

I'm sorry to say this but you're wrong Scott. The reason why car are quick to brake it's not because of bad bad but bad engineer. Most engineer that design car today are college elite. Most don't know how to turn wrench they only believe in mathematics. To make better vehicle, car manufacturer need to hire good street technician working with college engineer to design better car.

Spare me your shallow understanding of "capitalism." Competition do indeed encourage manufacturers to cut costs to help them earn larger market share. Ethical (and common sense) producers create real value for the consumer by delivering more quality for less. But along comes Mr. Kilmer to push the idea that, whoa, you can actually cut costs AND produce an inferior product at the same time and consumers, those schlubs, will NEVER figure it out and punish such producers. No doubt such manufacturers can get away with poor quality for a time but eventually the reviews and the internet analysts figure out what's been done and publicize the sleeze. One way or the other the ethical businesses survive unless they're hammered by giants like Walmart, low-wage foreign competition and illegal immigrants, and monopolies. "Capitalism" isn't defined by unethical producers. Look around you and you find an incredible variety of efficient and ethical producers and service providers. Pound for pound we get quality and efficiency.
