Why can't you just use both aqua regia and nitric acid to dissolve the silver and the gold in the 14 karat gold?

And what if you mix both acids?Or what if you poured 14k gold in the acid while it was still molten, could the acid get to all the silver then?

  • Dylan Dunn
    Dylan Dunn 5 months ago

So could you make a fine gold powder by just dissolving the silver. Also how would this work with other finely mixed alloys where an acid only dissolves one of the metals. If a fine powder did form would it have a finer grain than dropping gold out of solution since it doesn't have the change to crystallize in the same way? Great video btw!
