  • Akon stepped up to Ebro in the Morning for some story telling, and conversation about his businesses, past hits, and classic collaborations.
He also shared some never before heard stories about Michael Jackson, Eminem, Whitney Houston, Quincy Jones, and more. He also gives an honest opinion on R. Kelly.
It wasn't all stories though, he addressed why he accepts investment dollars from Chinese billionaires, why he decided to do Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, his cryptocurrency and put a lit of the great African jollof debate!

Akon well said. Africa is actually the continent for the world to be focusing on. More opportunities abound especially with the natural resources. I currently run solar energy in my home and in talks with my friend on solid mineral resources production. Love from Lagos and to my families in Brooklyn.

When people are so desensitized they think being friends with children is a flaw. It's not a flaw. Yes there are people who would take advantage of an innocent child but theres a lot of us who really care and thats what children need because we dont know if they are or they are not getting any love and care at home.

I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold
    No fame or fortune
    Nor riches untold
I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold
    Don't give me a mansion
    On top of the hill
    Don't give me the world
    With a shallow thrill
But just give me a savior
    My life He can hold
I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold

With regard to Eminem's story, it seems like it would be difficult just to just stop in the middle of creating, especially if you're on a hot creative streak. Creating music is a lot different than working a regular job at say a bank or something. Sometimes it takes awhile to get the creative juices flowing and then to abruptly stop just when you're starting to really flow. Seems odd and very constrictive to confine creativity within a structured time frame. That same fire and inspiration may not be there the next day when you return to the studio. That's why many legendary music artists spent days at a time in the studio; if they started flowing, they didn't want to stop lest the magic and inspiration be lost forever. For instance, Stevie Wonder famously spent marathon hours in the studio working on his classic '70s albums, and the end results were well worth it. Prince was notorious for this as well, spending hours on in camped out in the studio and sometimes calling his engineer at three in the morning to come into the studio if he was suddenly hit with a jolt of inspiration. But apparently the structured hours work for Em. That's a special gift to have to just be able to turn it off like that but then come back the next day with the same fire.

Eminem the type of dude to body an entire sixteen layered with complex multi-syllable rhyme schemes and flow switches at 150 BPM and then just leave the studio like nothing happened.

Not take advantage? I think maybe you do not understand the concept of leverage and how the amount of leverage China is placing on Africa will essentially give them effective ownership in the case of default. True partnership would be equity investments, but the truth is a lot of China's investments are through leverage.

Love Akon. And he's spot on about people flaunting their clothes and jewellery are normally keeping up appearances and 'poor'. People with money and a rich mentality don't prioritise designer clothes, and they keep their circle small. Puts me off a guy when he's trying to flaunt himself like he has money

Something to do about dating younger women but I didn't quite catch the exact wording. Was he actually saying to always date women that are exactly HALF your age (as a man)? WT actual F? LOL
