    Can I leave the mountain yam out? Will it majorly effect how the takoyaki tastes or is it just the texture. I'm in the us and I can buy everything on this list except for the mountain yam, can I substitute with sweet yams or potatoes?

    hello, i got problem.. i cook takoyaki with the same amout of ingredients (except for dashi .. i got dashi-moto and i dont have they yam ) i dont know why but it seems mushy.. and it doesnt form rond.. is it possible that i9n time my takoyaki pan doesnt work anymore???

    my pan for making takoyaki is not non-sticky.. Any ideas / tricks so I don't need to threw away the rest of the mixtures

      Use oil as in the video but don't put the fire too high. You'd better use low temperature so takoyaki will cook slowly but it won't get stuckin the pan.

    I dont know what texture takoyaki usualy have, but recently Iordered some in a restaurant, I'm not sure if it was the real thing. It had the texture of mashed potato. Is it normal?

    I always remember making this with my girlfriend when I was with her in Hyogo. Nearly everything I ate in Japan was delicious but I didnt like the pickled ginger too much her mother laughed when I tried it. Kobe beef in a little restaurant that you cook your own food was brilliant, I miss Japan so much.

      I would skip it if you can't find it. Nothing will give it the same chewy texture. It will taste the same without it and usually nobody uses it.
