J.R. Smith's NBA Finals blunder deserves a deep rewind | Warriors vs Cavaliers 2018

  • The Cavaliers and Warriors battled in the NBA Finals four consecutive years. LeBron James versus Steph Curry and the Warriors just became an expected matchup to end the season. But the last Finals series between these two teams wasn't quite as close as we had come to expect and it left a sour taste in the mouths of Cavs fans. It all started with a Game one slugfest, ending in one of the many mistakes made by wild card two guard, J.R. Smith.

Speaking of low IQ like JR. There is this video where 60% of the items brought up have little to no bearing on the subject. What a waste of time hoping that the long introduction was somehow paid off in the concluding thesis.

Hill missed the free throw that could’ve put them up by 1, but he never gets blamed. Also, J.R. Smith grabbing the offensive rebound prevented the Warriors from having a chance to win in regulation. What he did afterwards was dumb, but the play itself (including the rebound) was one that helped the Cavs in that situation.

Let's not tell half truths about the Cavs championship win. Games 4 and 5 were borderline 2002-WCF-Game-6-Tim-Donaghy laughable on the officiating side, and the stuff that got Draymond Green suspended was the same stuff Kobe, Shaq, Westbrook, and Harden had gotten away with for years. All things being equal, called down the middle, Warriors in 5.

Where was LeBron on that FT? Why was LeBron not lined up next to KD in case of a miss when "it all hangs in the balance" LeBron is literally out of the picture, can't even see him. Just Stood & Watched like when Kyrie won him that Ring vs the warriors. Michael Jordan used to dunk free throw misses but LeBron can't handle pressure enough to fight KD for a rebound, stands way back out of the play because he's too nervous, and then he whines & cries about it to JR like a BIOTCH when he knows JR just went JR. Who was more stupid on that play? LEBRON

yeah its sad that hill was his 3rd best scorer at 9.2 ppg in the playoffs over 22 games by the way so some of that is in garbage time and the .2 is cause love missed a few playoff games so he got those shots instead raising his point total...hill was basically at 9 ppg and was the cavs 3rd best scorer...pretty sad....love was at 15 but he shot 38%...just terrible man....if you remember lbj almost won game 1 and 3 and thats without kyrie d rose or a d wade on his team and instead had clarkson hood and nance jr instead never forget lol ..like imagine how different things could of been had the cavs not traded kyrie kept him for last season since he was under contract anyways last year and this so he had no leverage and then traded him this deadline in 2019 which after a 2nd title in 3 years maybe he wouldn't of wanted anyways and kept d wade and d rose...smdh...it kinda makes me mad that they didnt try to keep d wade and rose and crawder anyways for the playoff run last year cause had they kept them they may have won a title anyways or gone to 7 games without kyrie who got hurt last year anyways so he wouldn't of been much use if he got hurt and was out like he was compared to d wade rose and crawder ...they chose hood over all 3 of them cause hood couldn't come unless wade and his salary was traded for nothing which they allowed and rose and crawder for hood was just a mistake..flat out anyways..smdh….hood was atrocious and while I dont like nance jr. or clarkson they would of worked better off d wade and crawder as bench players rather than frye and thomas so that was a good move anyways as was shump for hill no brainer...they had peak lebron and they wasted him...looking back they panicked and traded for bums...in fact the thomas trade cost them lebron cause it freed up cap space in la..ironic enough...the cavs are idiots and dug their own grave..now they sleep in it...

You guys should do a Rewinder on the Philly Special in Super Bowl LII. It's the story of a city still reeling from falling at the doorstep of greatness. They suffered three consecutive NFC Championship losses - against the greatest show on turf, and horrendous choke jobs against Jon Gruden's Bucs and then the Panthers. Those last two really stung, as the Birds seemed to be the team to beat in the NFL and they just kept letting their fans down at home in the NFC Championship. In a fourth consecutive trip, they managed to beat a young Michael Vick, a player who would at the time draw comparisons to McNabb, and later prove to be on a whole other level. This was the team that took the next step and signed Terrell Owens to finally give Donovan the weapon he's always needed (poor Todd Pinkston). Through Owens antics and his injury, they made it to the Super Bowl, where Owens would return and somehow play incredibly against Belichick's defense. Philly's biggest star was playing through illness too. Those factors along with classic Andy Reid clock management sealed the deal. It's a story of how the national media's depiction of the Philadelphia fans made it easy for football fans to enjoy the schadenfreude of watching Philadelphia turn their ringless despair on their longtime coach, Andy Reid. If coach Reid got one of those three big opportunities to get a ring, he might still be in Philly and none of the heroics in Super Bowl LII ever happen. It's the story of how that team broke down and got rid of first Reid, and then GM Howie Roseman, to appease their new coach Chip Kelly. Kelly would remind Philly how good they had it as they watched Kelly get rid of their best players for nutjobs like Kiko Alonso (side story: despite having taken numerous huge hits in his career, if you google "who hit Joe Flacco?" it shows you Kiko Alonso). Philly would dump the Kelly experiment and quickly hire a security blanket former backup quarterback and former Reid protege, Doug Pederson. Roseman, looking to make a splash in his return to a big role, made the move to get Carson Wentz in the draft, and later brought back Philly success story but St. Louis Rams failure, Nick Foles. Nick Foles replaced Michael Vick (coming full circle for him in his career after losing to the Eagles and subsequently going through his own issues off the field). Foles was one of the few success stories in the Chip Kelly years, surprising people in his performance taking over for the superstar. And he was here to back up our new phenom who was having a league MVP season in 2017 before getting hurt in a game over the Rams that decisively put them in the driver's seat in the NFC. Nobody expected this team to be here, and destiny was showing us the doorstep (it was also injuring a lot of stars across the league). And now it looked like the whole world was going to enjoy watching Philly fall flat in the playoffs again. They were the first 1 seed to ever be the underdog against a 6 seed. Nobody gave them a shot in the NFC championship against the team that just Minneapolis Miracle'd the Saints who had the incentive of playing the Super Bowl at home to play for (which also gave the national media reason to root for them). And against all the odds, the team was here in the Super Bowl with Nick Foles before half time. And they whip this out to show that this was a whole new era. This team was going to make its mark, and it starts now. They would go on to win the most entertaining Super Bowl in history (in my biased opinion) and beat the team who sent them into a spiral 14 years ago. Incredible.
Then the city would prove the national media right by collectively singing profanities on live television being led by Jason Kelce in a mummer suit. I love Philadelphia.

First of all, George Hill was brought in to SHOW UP for the finals, just like Korver, Smith, and Thompson ... yet NONE of them showed up ... and Ty Lue was too stupid to let Clarkson and Hood put up their 17 points per game. Secondly, Hill MISSED the free throw. Hill shoulda-coulda-woulda ended it right there and then! Thirdly, Draymond Green committed a lane violation, which everyone seems to have missed (especially the NBA's worthless referees) ... #SMH ... freeze it at 0:09 (amongst other places) ... and finally, why didn't Ty Lue call a timeout when Smith grabbed the rebound? Smith is everything you say he is, which is why EVERYONE else should have mitigated the situation.
