    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  Year ago

+Sarah Scheidt depending on the day and on how big a batch were doing they can take from 2 to 8 minutes. On some of our videos show the full process in actual speed. Keep in mind these are very small batches so there a bit fast.

you guys should hit that candy pulling hook thing wit a hammer so all the candy would come off i seen other people do it in another video when they make candy

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  Year ago +1

Adding the hard candy can promote crystallization of the whole batch. We are using a hook from the 1800's now, and it's so much better. The candy almost never sticks.

  • brandie147

how do u clean the hook? and does it make a difference in how the candy pulls if there is already some build up on the hook like in this vid or a bare hook?

    • Lofty Pursuits
Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago +2

It depends on the flavor. If you have peppermint on the hook and your making a mild flavor like peach, it might. But normally the next layer of candy sticks to the hook too, and it acts like a barrier to the flavor on the hook.
As for cleaning. Candy is water soluble. The hook detaches from the wall and is put in a bath of water. No effort.

    • jessica sierra
      jessica sierra 2 years ago

Yeah they are. They look finely powered, but i can see how the citric acid could make the clear parts of the candy look kinda 'dirty' in a way.

    • lightdark00
      lightdark00 2 years ago

It confused me that he said powdered, but then later white specs. So I think it's like normal citric acid crystals you can get--just like refined sugar.

    • Lofty Pursuits
Lofty Pursuits  2 years ago +11

+Karen Kurby Most of them get sold as bulk block of candy at our store under the name "Unicorn Droppings". If we were to make a candy without a central design, like Lollipops or Candy Canes, we could insert the blob into the rear end of the log of candy. In this batch you may notice we had some left over white and blue candy. We made those into candy canes.
