    RLScience EN I just found your channel. Wonder if you could help me out. What size and type of magnet would you recommend to achieve 2.5mH at a distance of 8in? What spin or oscillation rate would be required? Thank you for your time and thanks for showing the dangers of these magnets.

    This video was originally filmed in German. I synced it and created this english channel to show, what could go wrong with magnets.
    I went to hospital, because my thumb was not able to move, it became twice its size and it was impossible to check, if there was something broken.
    The doctor asked what happend. When I told him, he couldn't believed it and I should send him the clip, when I was back home.
    And when you criticize my English: It is not my first language, but I am able to speak in YOUR language. Can you talk to me in German? I don't think so...

      People have joked about the amount of safety procedures I take when using magnets. Now I can show them this video.

      You sound like a kid. He did it well. This is an educational video, not a vlog or some Pewdiepie vid so he didn't have to talk to the video. Go home, freak. You clearly have no idea about video making and all you know is the generic type of videos that Ricegum makes.

    Dismissing all the negative comments, this is an important video to show the potential dangers of strong neodymium magnets. I had two neodymium magnets stuck together - 7/8" diameter x 1/2" thick. The only way I could part them was by putting one in a wooden vice and tightening it, then I slid the other one away free.

    Why the f@$$ did you have your thumb there ????? anyway the neodymium magnet will lose its magnetism when heated above its Curie point.

    You should wear eye protection with even smallestl Neod magnets, they do chip easily and very sharp, you dont want the fragments in your eyes. Careful handling is really important tvclip.biz/video/0t8yDnyOaQ8/video.html

      +David Horgan I can't move my thumb, it became twice its normal size. So it was impossible to check the bones by touching it.

    • David Horgan

      Kuroshitsuji Huh? Just touch/move suspected bone. If in two places when it should be one. THEN go to the hospital. Stop wasting limited medical resources.

      @Chad f
      Given the crushing event where his thumb got caught in between two powerful magnets I seriously believe he went to the hospital to have an x-ray rather than having a few cuts washed. Maybe the part where the man stated that the doctors found no broken bones wasn’t clear enough for you?

      Making sure your bone isn't fractured, and heals properly isn't cowardly you fool.

      The human body needs to be hurt and broken from time to time that's how we grow! I'm with Chad, grow some balls. I nearly broke one of my fingers a week ago, it's getting better...haven't been off the hospital...it will repair itself...This is one of the problems with people these days...you cut yourself and it's off the hospital..damn it...people play around with things they really shouldn't be playing with and then they get hurt..well,....? Maybe he should have a first aid kit around his house..I do DIY stuff from time to time and have a kit right where I do my work.....just an idea, cheaper then going off to the hospital.

      Having hit my thumb with a hammer too many times I can say that the damage looks real, but that bandaging was excessive. That's doctors for you.

      RLScience EN Adobe premiere or ketchup maybe? To me it looks fake as well. Your thumb looks like it went in the gap between the metal plates.
