You know ball joints don't need to be pressed in while its on the vehicle right? Just put it in a press.

    • Randy Lewis
      Randy Lewis Day ago

You leave that balljoint in a freezer overnight and you can tap it in with a dead blow hammer the next day... no press needed

You're not going to put Por 15 on that frame first?

  • FLY EAGLES FLY Bleed Green

I understand that kits used bolts to keep it all secure..I personally would have welded those brackets. This way they were even stronger..bolts can snap. Good stuff and thanks for sharing

  • Mike Boteler

How are you handling the serial number on the new frame not matching the title? That could be a deal breaker down the road and altering/grinding it off is illegal. You might contact your DMV and ask them how to handle it...it's probably not a big deal to take care of it now while you still have the original frame available for inspection. Just a thought...

  • Darryl Albert

Possible personal question: but where do you get the funds for these builds? Are you sponsored or do anyone help fund it? Just curious though

  • Jack Krinkov
    Jack Krinkov 18 days ago

For all of you commenting on paint it or will rust. That is what he plans to do. Thats how you build a hot rod or any custom car. Fabricate everything, bolt it together to make sure everything fits than blow it apart for paint or powder than final assembly.

  • Bryan Peters
    Bryan Peters 19 days ago

You people crack me up. You blast the frame first just to clean it. Then you pre assemble it to mock it up to make sure everything goes together well. Then you take it all apart and powder coat (Yes, I said powder coat) it all (because that IS the best way to do it). Then you reassemble it all for the last time. Powder coat holds up better then any paint or undercoat you will find. This is not a daily driver, off road, salty snowy road going beater. It`s a show truck. so none of that will matter. If it were me, I would box the frame and weld as much of those suspension parts to the frame instead of bolting them on. But it`s not me.

Be aware that in some states the frame and the VIN on the frame is what identifies the vehicle. I did a frame swap on a C10 myself out here in CA and I had to go have it inspected at CHP. They removed the VIN from the cab and issued a replacement VIN which was rivetted to the door jam which the new VIN matched the VIN on the frame but my title was branded as Salvaged. You actually did a good thing by changing it to a 75 frame if you have it re vinned to match the frame a CA buyer wouldn't be in a world of shit if they bought it cause 75 and older is smog except. 76+ still requires smog in CA
